Kingston SSDNow V100 SV100S2N/128GZ 2.5" Internal / External Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Still pretty pricey.
Pros:Solid state drive (duh!) |
This is my first SSD, bought to upgrade my low-end laptop (main reason why I didn't go for faster, and pricier, models).Installed Win7, no problems whatsoever.Boot up is much faster now, about 20sec after bios check, which is still a HUGE improvement compared with hdd-boot, and apps also load faster, in line with the 50% speed improvement claimed by Kingston.Battery life also improves marginally, but what I like about ssd is I don't have to worry about all the spin on/spin off wear and tear of a hdd and mechanical shocks to the laptop. After reading about all the horror stories about Reliability of some brands and models, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope it will give me trouble-free service until the (projected) end of its SSDLife (sometime in 2010!)
