Kingston SVP200S3/120G 120GB SSDNow V+200 SATA 3 2.5
Cons:None
Pros:Fast, Silent Comment:
Bought to replace in laptop and it is now super fast. Also, runs silent because there's no moving parts. I can't say if it's better than other SSD's because I don't have any to compare. |

Kingston SVP200S3/120G 120GB SSDNow V+200 SATA 3 2.5
Cons:-price
Pros:-easy installation-cool and quiet -3 year warranty Comment:
Installed it as a boot drive in an i3 / z68 system with 8gigs on Mushkin ram. System is very fast. My first SSD so can only compare to a spinning drive. Obviously that's no contest. I'm impressed by overall performance, particularily when installing or removing applications. Boots from cold to ready to go in less than 30 seconds. Scored 7.9 on the Windows 7 index for whatever that is worth. |

Kingston SVP200S3/120G 120GB SSDNow V+200 SATA 3 2.5
Cons:Needed Firmware update (Simple To Do Though).
Pros:Price On Sale, Newer Revision V+ Series. Comment:
This drive was on sale for a decent price and offers a nice mid range speed for it's price point. The drive is the newer V+ series from the earlier V series so it offers the SandForce SF-2281 controller on board and a SATA III interface. Installed in an older AMD dual core laptop I ran HDTune and numbers were Average 143.5MB/sec so not to shabby at all. In a nutshell the old laptop that took several minutes to bootup is now literally seconds from a cold boot. Overall feel and running of the laptop is great...less noise aswell. Just remember to head over to Kingston.com and grab the latest firmware as I had a Blue Screen when trying to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1. The firmware is simple enough...just type in the model number SVP200S3 in the search field at Kingston and download the firmware update utility. |

Kingston SVP200S3/120G 120GB SSDNow V+200 SATA 3 2.5
Cons:Not as fast as the "fast" SSd's, didn't come with any mounting hardware or bracket.
Pros:Cheap, realiable Comment:
Overall this drive is really well done. It's being sold as a good alternative for those of us who don't need the "fastest" of the fast SSD's, but would rather know it's built with some reliability in mind. Don't get me wrong though, this unit is still eons faster than my old magnetic drive. The only downfall I found was that it come with no mounting hardware at all. Not even a half bracket. It was still able to screw into my tower, but it's only held on by 2 screws on the side and nothing else. Being that is it only the size of a cell phone it would obviously need a proper bracket to be 4 point secured. Overall though I would buy again and have had no issues with it other than the windows issues with AHCI (not drive related). |
Works great out of the box. Current firmware. This is a great option for a boot drive even on an older Sata2 machine. Laptop upgrades now a real option.
