The most difficult part of the drive was liberating it from the plastic packaging. It installed flawlessly in a new build and at two weeks old shows no problems whatsoever. This is my second LG brand device and it looks to be a company with good quality standards.

I bought 7 of this and only 3 seems to work fine. Now I'm trying to get a refund.

It worked out of the box. There is a firmware update available to remove that annoying BlueBird thing. Its a 35 dollar drive, you cannot really go wrong with it. Just note that it is an OEM product so it does not come with anything but the drive it self.

I recently purchased 2 of these burners. I fun Nero 7.3 for my burning software, and as soon as i installed these drives i was promted to download the update for SecureDisk DVD that these burners have. I installed the update and began to burn, or i should say, tried to burn. 6 out of every 7 disks i try to burn are unreadable when burning data disks, if you burn Secure Disk, the files come out all jumbled. I've been using Maxell DVD-R 16X Disks for years and never had a problem till i bought these burners. To date i have not found a fix for my problem, i'm about to throw these drives away and find one's that actually work.

Well, for a bit over 20, u can't ask for more. I just use it for installing windows. else, i get the drivers/software online

For the price you can't get a better dvd writer. Samsung one are way more noisy than this one. Mine didn't have the bad firmware but if you have it's easy to update.

Slightly concerned about reports of the bluebird firmware, but I have not seen anything of the likes yet. Either that or it installed without me noticing and doesn't bug afterwards.Primary end user has not come forward with any complaints either.Not likely going to buy this particular drive in the future, I always just go for the cheapest one on sale that works.

Works well for the price. Reads dvds and cd-roms. Great for the price. Automatically detected out of the box by the motherboard.

SUPER affordable and does everything i need it to do!! 5 STARS!!!!! The black color is also a nice feature as some readers and writers come in bage or white...ugly colors...nice black.

Did not come with Bluebird firmware like other users had claimed. Installed easily in Windows 7 64Bit.

As of this writing, the bluebird is long gone. LG upgraded the firmware to remove it right at the factory on the newer drives. This drive works as good as any drive I've ever used, and I've burnt dozens of DVDs in the past 2 weeks with no issues at all. I checked the firmware and LG had an update  for Windows 7 compatability. I would purchase this drive again without hesitation.

for 34 bucks you cant go wrong with this. it does what its supposed to and looks good. ive burned 5 dvds already with not great speed but it works.

It's a good CD/DVD unit. Everyone i know have one like these. it's Cheap, and do what i want awesome

What else better can you get for this price! Get this so you don't regret! I have been having this for 5 months. No problem ever happens with this! I am not saying that this is the best out there in the market but definitely a must-have at this price!

lg has alway made great burners and this one is awesome as alway. i would def recommend getting one of these

Really fast write and read, stable but makes a bit of noise for a brand new player. Great overall and I'm satisfied

Bought lots of these for cheap builds and client machines. Does the job and only had one die on me. However, like others have said, the included software is mediocre at best, so use your own.

i don't really trust lg as a company,but so far the drive is doing it's job, it is not noisier than any other drive i have already owned.running with windows 7 64 bit

i bought 2 of these drives over a year ago i burn 100's of cd's and dvd's and not a problem i mean i work them hard all the time never a hickup they ROCK

A good fast drive that stays quiet, quality burns thus far and no problems. Slightly more expensive than others but it has higher speed, picked up when on sale but at regular price I'd still pay it.

Got this for my new case and it works good. Like others have talked about the bluebird firmware, it is pretty annoying but good thing it can be removed
