I was surprise how much quiet this drive was, I had a Samsung SH-223Q, who died randomly on me and was pretty loud when I used it. This one is quiet and efficient. |

LG has always served me well in the re-write drives. I really only needed this to install my OS on my home server and it was on sale for $19. It did it's job, no drivers needed, works as it should. But boy is it loud, like XBOX360 disk drive loud. It's a good thing I will rarely be using the drive for anything. I imagine it would be quieter for DVD video playback. All-in-all it does what it needs to and the LG quality is great especially at that low price. |

Cons:Makes some fairly loud noises on opening, closing and on during use.

Only had it long enough to ensure it worked so far. Had no issues working with my current desktop. It is fairly loud, or at least the one I got is. This optical drive makes some fairly loud "clunk" sounds on opening and closing. Should point out that I did not have this drive secured in the case during the tests. During use it was a little on the loud side, nothing I can't deal with.Overall, does what I bought it for. Can't really ask for more than that. |

Pros:Very good price during the last weekly sale. Burns every type of media I have thrown at it (mainly Taiyo Yuden DVDs) Fast shipping - can't argue with that. Discs mount quite quickly. Comment:

Had this to give better designs to my DVD home movies. And found that I could trust time DVD burner better then My Sony DVD burner, so now Sony drive is only for reading disks. |
It is quieter and reacts faster than my previous LG DVD-RW burner. One can't ask for more for so little money. Wait for a sale of PriceMatch it for a nice $10 more in your pocket.
