I am a first time Lian Li buyer and they don't fail to impress. I am also a first time reviewer so bear with me.I moved from a history of Antec Cases over the years and builds (P180, NSK1380) and most recently a 1200. I replaced the 1200 with the PC-B10 mainly due growing tired of a full size steel case, an abundance of blue light and the only reasonable performance of the tri-cools.This case is extremely subtle and personally I think it looks exceptional. The finishing on the case is phenomenal and consistent. All of the panels, components, doors, etc all fit perfectly. You honestly have to work with one to understand I think, its really that good. Most of the internals are all mounted on rubber grommets to isolate noise and the hard drive and CD drive mounts are tool-less.The stock cooling is quiet, perhaps not as quiet as I expected so I will probably replace the fans with Noctuas. The stock fans have both a 3pin and a molex adaptor which made it easy to work with. The case panels and door are lined with sound dampening material. The only issue I ran in to, besides moving down from a full tower to a midtower (slightly harder to work in) was that the PSU cut out did not totally work with my PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750. It seemed as is the AC connection was a little too close to the cutout. The power supply still mounted well it just took some messing with it. The supplied clamp for the power supply holds far stronger than I would have anticipated. The PCI cards mount with special tool-less clamps and the case had no problem with a 10.5" card (EVGA 9800 GTX+).If you are looking for a subtle, non-UFO glowing light case and you only require an ATX form factor this case is exceptional, though a tad on the high side price-wise. You do get what you pay for. The strengths, style and ease of installation of this case far outweigh the few small weaknesses. I would have liked them to make the inside, of the case the same black as the rest, but without a window I guess its not a huge concern.I will personally probably stick with Lian Li cases in the future after finally understanding what all the buzz about this brand is about. I also couldn't let a product this good not have at least one review at NCIX. Now all they need to do is get some pictures of the case posted here so you don't have to go searching for them. |
After having owned a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case for the last 5 years, it was beginning to show it's age. The fans started a slow and loud death, and the case was starting to get dented and pieces were beginning to snap. When it came time to upgrade I decided to look for a new case as well, though I had certain height limitations that I had to work with (under 19" tall) and this case fit the bill perfectly. Not only was it slightly shorter than my old Thermaltake case, it was also seemed roomier inside. I've gained a bit of length in the video card area which will be nice when it comes time to upgrade my 4850s I have in there (which were pretty much the max size I could fit in the Thermaltake). The build quality is miles ahead of my old case, granted for this price I expected it to be. It's hard to explain until you actually see/own one but everything just fits together so nicely and so well. They have definitely paid close attention to detail on this. The cable management for this case is just ok. I would've like to have seen a few more holes to run cables, but it at least has the one main one in the area of the 24pin power connector. Cable management isn't the best, but it's not the worst either.Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase, while the price is a bit steep for me I think it's going to be well worth it. I liked the fact that it used some form of sound dampening as my computer is only about 5-6 feet from my bed. Currently have a Core i7 920, 2xHD4850s in Crossfire and the air flow in the case has been great at keeping these components running cool. I will say that you shouldn't expect the sound dampening that they use to completely eliminate the noise, but I will say that it definitely does help.
