LINKSYS WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook Adapter

This is my 2nd product from this mfg. and both times their software didn't work. Software packed with card was a different version than the card; it wouldn't allow laptop to hiberate - it hung up. Found correct version on mfg. website. Radio performance is better than prior no-name card. Installed on Big Blue Thinkpad so mainstream machine. Card does not appear in Safely Remove Hardware list so I cannot remove card and install anothe PCMCIA card (USB2.0) when i would like. Hangs machine. Expect much better from this mfg. given reputation of parent company.

I have had this card two years. Each time I have tried to install this card after reloading Windows, I get error messages that require me to enter a %d-long WEP code. How long is %d? My WEP key is Valid on all other machines on the network. I was advised that Linksys has identified a glitch in their application, but even after all this time, a fix is not available. All other options are grayed out. Linksys reps are unable to help. Not one of them has any technical savvy whatsoever. Worse, the phone connection to whatever country they are located in is very fuzzy. Add the accent, and good luck! I have lost several hours in total trying to get this card to work, but it's no use. I'm trashing this and buying another card. Never again, Linksys!

Works as advertised, especially so with a WRT54G Linksys Router. I am very happy I made this purchase.

Works great! Didn't need the software either ... just Plug-n-Play with XP.

Doesn't like our n Router, but besides that, it works and has a pretty good range.

Used it for 2 years, never had any problems, didn't even need the included software to negociate connections, very stable.

This worked right out of the box for someone new to wireless technology. Works great in my older Pentium III Toshiba notebook. Followed easy instructions in box and set-up was a snap. TigerDirect was fast to my door.

Good product. Unfortunately, I had major problems setting it up on an older Win ME notebook, even though I followed the instructions exactly. However, after I got it working, it worked very well. I use it between buildings and get a suprisingly strong connection, despite it reporting a varying signal strength of 25%-60%. My surfing and downloads are nearly as fast as when I'm next to my router. Impressive, indeed.
