Linksys WRT160N Wireless N Router with 4 Port 10/100 Switch
Cons:same linksys web-based manager, aggressive power save
Pros:fast, easy to set up, brand name Comment:
I bought this router to extend my existing residential gateway, and provide 1Gbit local area networking (LAN) and wifi-N. The 1Gbit LAN makes a serious difference when backing up my laptop to my network attached storage (NAS). The wifi-N provides exceptional coverage even though both wifi access points are located in suboptimal positions. When the router works, it works great. However, the wifi powersave often kicks in at odd times when not in use, so reconnecting becomes an issue. I haven't found any particular cause. I wake up one morning and when I find I can't connect, I restart the device at the AC jack or enter the web-based manager from a wired computer and disable and enable SSID broadcasting. This is a known feature with no solution, and is well-documented on the Linksys forums. When the device works, it works well. If you can handle the unpredictable power save, then this is a good fit for you. |
This is a pretty decent router for the price, I got it to use for my PS3 which is quite far away from my router and it works fine with perfect speeds.
