Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote
Comment:
Best electronics purchase I have made in years. Controls DirecTV DVR, Panasonic 5 disc DVD changer (only remote I've ever got to control all functions of it), Home Theatre Receiver, TV, PS2, and VCR. Setup took about 20 minutes with 3/5 year old twins ''helping'', and teaching mom took less than 30 seconds. She is very happy with the purchase. Will buy more when I get my basement and bedroom systems completed. Excellent controls and well thought out. Programming is easy and quick through the software.

I purchase this remote and it does everything it said: A couple things to keep in mind. Once you received it, get it on the charger for at least an hour while you look up your equipment names and model numbers. Then install your software on the computer and follow the on screen guide knowing how each component is hook up i.e (composite, s-video, component, HDMI for each unit connecting to your TV. For example my VCR hooks directly to my tv via s-video and my HDdvd hook up via component into my A/V receiver, ect.. Dont have to be concerned about how audio hooks up (coaxial or optical) as the remote will pick it up from your current configuration. I had a little issue with my computer remote but the software suggested a compatible alternate which work just fine. I replaced six remotes with this one and now my 5 year old can watch his cartoon without me setting up the entertainment system. Hmm, not to sure that is a good thing but the wife can watch vcr, dvr, dvd or live tv withou

My wife loved to rant about 5 remotes. I purchased a a universal that went through batteries as if they were candy. It was also a pain to program. The Harmony is easy to program. It charges easily. And a charge lasts us weeks. Then there is the fact that I have yet to find anything with which it does not work. You will not be sorry!!

This remote is this best thing since sliced bread. All you do is input all your audio/video components and how they're connected, into the software and then download the settings to the remote via a usb cable. Once it's setup you simply push one button to change from watching TV to watching a DVD. No more messing around with manually changing TV inputs.

Just got it a few days ago and got a sweet deal with a rebate from Tiger Direct. Loaded the software on my laptop and followed the instructions that came with the unit and in 15 minutes had all my systems working from the Harmony remote. My DVD, Sony home theater system, LG plasma, Wii, and my Dish network satellite receiver all set up to work with just one touch of the various buttons assigned to the activities. One touch of watch TV button turns on MY Plasma, turns on the surround sound system, and satellite receiver and correctly sets the configurations so the remote controls everything just the way I want!

Excellent remote. If you can complete an online survey, you can easily program this remote. Once the setup is finished, it couldn't be much easier to operate. Very user friendly, you can even set any background image on the LCD display (as long as you resize it first). The only problem I have had with this is that it cannot switch my GE television from composite to S-Video. On this TV you have to enter a main menu, then a sub-menu before selecting an input, and this is too many commands for this remote for a single operation. Otherwise, does everything it should, works on devices no other universal I have tried would operate correclty. Overall, Very satisfied.

I bought my 880 over 2 years ago and it is still running strong, amazing considering my two boys fight over it and it gets dropped/thrown all the time. I did have a small problem once with the charger but C.S. dealt with it quickly..A+++. There is not a better remote for the money with the features than this one. My 4 year old was able to use this 2 days after I bought it. You won't find a better remote...ANYWHERE!!! Also, it is very easy to hold and control with just one hand unlike some of the huge bulky LCD remotes that require two hands. I've used it so much the buttons are worn down. When I kill this one I'm buying another for sure. I LOVE THIS REMOTE!!

Fantastic remote! Very easy to set up. The online database worked with all but one of my components (an older Marantz CD player). My wife was very skeptical at first, but once she tried it, she loves it also. Would definitely recommend this remote to anyone that is looking to replace several remotes. I replaced my HDTV remote, FIOS remote, Denon receiver remote and Sony DVD remote.

I had a Harmony 659 that I bought a few years back.I was starting to have a bit of trouble with a couple of buttons so I bought the 880 as a replacement.I cannot recommend these remotes enough.Once you do the initial setup online, which in itself is a breeze, and start using it you'll wonder what took you so long to buy one.No more cluttered table tops.No more changing batteries.Just a simple push of a button and you're into the activity that you choose. Hurry, run,go buy one today. You won't be sorry.

Without a debt the best damn remote on the planet!!! The only thing it doesn't do is start my coffee maker. Maybe next time. You want to get rid of those 5-10 remotes dragging around you, then, replace every one of them with this one. Replaces my PVR,AVR,DVD,CD,VCR,HD LCD TV, & my Logitech Z-5500 computer speaker's remote. Simply amazing with all command & function buttons. Setup is a snap via USB & Logitech's online library of components. No more codes to enter!!!A truly fantastic product. Thanks, Logitech!! I have to say, your suite of components are unique & innovative, worth every penny & never disappoint. Hats off to your staff of engineers. Keep up the good work!!!

I can't recommend this remote highly enough. DO NOT WAIT. I should have picked this up 5 months ago when I started looking. Got this last night and had it set up in less than 30 mins. Operates with my 46'' LCD, Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver, Toshiba HD-A30 HD DVD and SA 8300HD DVR. My only complaint is that it is not compatible with PS3 but this is Sony's fault for going with Bluetooth only rather than adding an IR port as well. There is a 'work around' for this and I plan on adding this in a few weeks. Set up and firmware updates were very easy with online prompts. No manual to pour over...very intuitive. HELP button very uselful if any snags. My 6 yr old is now able to 'watch TV' or 'watch DVD' etc with, literally, with the press of ONE button. The Harmony 880 changes TV and receiver inputs, turns on or off components and even opens the DVD tray. If the 6 yr can do it, imagine how pleased for wife, parent, babysitter with be. Do yourself a favor and pick this up ASAP.

Poor Build Quality (These seem to loose buttons & have IR outages) But great customer service has made up for it (replaced twice). Replaced 8 remotes with this one - and it's easy to use after it's been properly configured. The wife loves it! No IR training is generally needed as the web based database of components already knows how to operate the components.

You will not find this for cheaper anywhere else. It is an amazing remote control. It controls my Xbox 360, Aquos LCD, 2 different stereos, and cable box. If I really wanted I could control the rest of the tv's in the house easily. I recommend this product for anyone with many remotes for their entertainment system.

This is a great remote. I replaced 5 others with it (DirectTV HD-DVR, HT, HD-DVD, CD, VCR), and all work well. It offers simple, one or two touch features and does most of what the manufacturers' remotes do. Set up is very easy on the computer, and occasional software upgrades are available. Also, it goes to sleep when left lying, and wakes up when you move it. Another feature is when it is on the charging cradle, you can load 8-10 pictures onto it (160 kb max) and have it scroll through a slide show. The only drawback is that occasionally, one component does not pick up the signal and does not shut off or turn on. Pushing the button again causes the others to do the opposite because they are now out of sync, but once they are realigned, all is okay. This kept me from giving it a 5 on performance. Otherwise, it's terrific. Now, my technically challenged wife can turn on the TV and the Home Theater system without hitting all of the wrong buttons as she fumbles through.

Great Remote. You do have to do a bit of work to get all of your devices to totally work with the remote, but it's a lot better than having your couch unusable for two because you have so many remotes. I would highly suggest this product, but be ready to do a bit of work just to tweak the product!

This is amazing, I replaced 9 remotes with the harmony 880 & there is still room to grow. It think & set everything for you. One touch of a button & here goes your whole theatre systems is turned on & set for you...and even set the room temperature for you if it is so equiped. Virtually everything which has an infrared sensor can be controlled & programmed with sets of pre-determined macros or manually set by the users.

When it works, it is fabulous. However, I have had to replace the unit 3 times, first for a poor connection between the remote and the charging cradle, second for the unit locking up. When left unattended for a couple of days, it was always locked onto... starting one particular activity. Required removal of battery, reboot, and then reinstalling RF extender software every time. Recently a third unit was reprogrammed, and worked flawlessly for a month, now locking up again. I have a 628 which still works great but has a hearty appetite for AAAs. But it works.

I'll reserve a 5 rating for absolute perfection. The 880 isn't at that level, but after having used it now for many months, I can say that it is very, very good. I wanted a remote that works easily and fully with all my components with a minimum of hassle. To that end, the 880 is a success. The setup process is web based. Unfortunately the website can be a bit hard to figure out. I'm also left wondering if I really needed the 880 and its color display. It is a nice touch for sure, it looks great, but after a short period of use, I pretty much knew the menus by heart. I would probably have been just as happy with a cheaper, non-color display. And a final warning: if you really like to use the number pad, you'll hate this remote. The numbers are placed way at the bottom of the remote. Using them is a bit uncomfortable and awkward. This isn't the most glowing review, but I highly recommend the 880. This is great for you or anyone who is tired of using multiple

This remote is the only one that has been able to replace every other remote in my complex home theater system. It even controls the Bell ExpressVu VDSL unit I have for digital cable and internet. It does take some time to configure the 880 on the Web (the inventory of devices it can control covers practically all consumer electronics that have a remote - even obscure DVD players to top of the line surround sound integrated amps) but once that is complete, you download the config to the remote and it can control the electronic component. Adding a new component or removing one is a matter of adjusting the configuration on the web and downloading the new profile to the 880. It's simple compared to looking up codes as you'd do with other universal remotes. The 880 can learn oddball commands from remotes that aren't in the Logitech database but I doubt you'd find a component that wasn't there. The rechargeable battery inside this unit is replaceable - versatile on all fronts.
