Logitech MX518 Wired Optical Gaming-Grade Mouse - Bilingual
Cons:Great mouse, but I think I got a dud. After about 3 months the r/l buttons started clicking weird, it feels like there are a few grains of sand caught underneath each of them. I took the mouse apart and cleaned it but that didn't solve my problem. The feel is a little bit off but the mouse is still 100% functional so I'm going to live with it.

Cons:Some gunk buildup on left mouse button

Pros:ShapeButton LocationDurability
Comment:
I bought this thing well over a year ago, maybe 2. During that period of time, I've never had a problem with it. I game a good deal and using a third party program, measured how much i was actually using. In one day:9.7k mouse clicks2.3km travelledThose are probably approximated numbers by the program but in my eyes, it puts a lot of weight towards the durability of the mouse. The buttons are easy to reach and easily fit in my hand. Only downside is that every month or so I have to scrape off some sort of gunk that builds up around the shape of my finger

Cons:Rubber comes off

Pros:ComfortPrecision
Comment:
Maybe I have used it too much, but the rubber by the scroll wheel has started to peel off. I've only had this mouse since March and didn't expect that to happen. My much older cordless logitech mouse has rubber on it too, but has never had a problem with the stuff coming off. Other than that issue, great mouse in vista. I prefer cordless. This one came with my laptop. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-11-08 11:21 AM

Cons:Right Handed only.

Pros:Buttons, Feel, weignt
Comment:
I love this mouse. I've tried many other gaming mice and this one is the best. It has a total of 8 customizable buttons. I play a lot of battlefield and I can have all my weapons mapped to a quick button press. I think on the fly sensitivity is useless so I mapped those to guns instead. I couldn't do that on the G5 (might be possible, I just couldn't disable on the fly sensitivity). There is no other mouse like it. you really can't tell the difference between this and a laser either.

Cons:DPI Switch ButtonsScroll ButtonsSoftware

Pros:ErgonomicsPrecisionButtons
Comment:
A good mouse, but I often accidentally hit the DPI switch buttons or the buttons above/below the scroll wheel and I don't use them at all either way so they are a bit useless for me and just get in the way. But the performance is great and it's very precise, has lasted 3+ years, the other buttons, are excellent. The software is a bit weak I uninstalled and just used generic winxp drivers.

I Bought this mouse when it first came out for nearly $100, it was a great mouse then and still is now. I own 5 of these currently and all of them still work, even the feet are still there.I tried the G5 version 1 and version 2 and did not like them, I took them back to the store 2 days later.I hope they NEVER disscontinue this model, and if they do I'm going to buy 10 if them before the're gone.

Logitech MX518 Wired Optical Gaming-Grade Mouse - Bilingual
Cons:- A bit light

Pros:- Overclockable- Price
Comment:
I've never loved any mouse as much as the MX518 regardless of price. The two buttons on the side are fantastic, as is the on-the-fly DPI adjustment. I like the fact that you can overclock the polling rate to decrease input lag, and for the price it is incredible. One gripe is that it is a bit light, but It's never effected my gaming. Get it.

I LOVE IT! It's even better than my g5. My g5 got lots of bugs ( left click sometimes stop clicking so its annoying when holding a spray in a FPS, + sometimes the mouse turns off & on by itself ). and I had 2 razer copperhead which was a nice mouse but both are broken now, i'll never buy razer again even if the mouse feels good when its brand new. mx518 FTW! Comment:
I bought this mouse to replace my MX510 when it died. It's a pretty similar mouse; most notably it has on the fly dpi adjustment that also happens to be twice as high as the MX510.I purposely bought the MX518 instead of the G5 because I wanted to avoid the laser optical engine. I've read a lot to suggest that the optical engine in the MX518 is actually superior in tracking to the laser engines, despite their higher DPI.If there was a G5 with optical engine I would go for that.

I had this mouse for 1 and a half year and it is by far the best mouse I have owned. It's well profiled, the sensitivity buttons are nice, the 2 thumb button are well placed and the precision is perfect. It's maybe the best thing about my computer. 5 Stars!

Cons:no mousewheel "tilt" buttons

Pros:works well, lots of buttons
Comment:
I have owned a G510 for years and have been pleased with it, this mouse seems to be pretty much the same, maybe a little more precise, but I cannot tell for certain as I don't play any FPS games. I have owned a G7 for the last two years and now rely on using the mousewheel "tilt" left and right as key bindings in World of Warcraft, and I was led to believe that this mouse had those buttons as well, and was highly disapointed to find out that it does not. This is likely a non-issue for most people, but to me I cannot even use this mouse because of it, still rating 4/5 as it is a great quality mouse.

This mouse was very responsive and at 1600 dpi, you can't go wrong. Logitech always creates solid products, I went from a mx500 to mx518 and theres quite a difference. Used this for cs 1.6... never missed a beat.

This is way better than my wireless mouse that always runs out of battery. The side buttons are awesome, just a click away instead of pressing backspace. I like how it feels on my hand especially the black side of it. Definitely recommend this mouse. This review was modfied by poster @ 02-21-08 08:29 PM

Cons:A bit ugly IMO

Pros:DPI Adjustable on the flyVery comfortable2 thumb buttonsPrice
Comment:
I've been very happy with this mouse since I got it a couple months ago. Going from using a standard 2 button and wheel optical mouse, it took a couple days getting used to the more ergonomic shape, now I find it really comfortable. All the important buttons are really well positioned. Application switching button is kinda useless, it's in a bit awkward spot and alt + tab works fine. I'd recommend this mouse for anyone upgrading from a basic mouse without wanting to spend an arm and a leg for one they probably wouldn't notice any difference anyways.Cheers.
