M-AUDIO Studiophile AV30 Desktop 2.0 Speaker System 30W RMS Black *Refurbished*
Cons:Small drivers. Blue glowing ring around volume knob.
Pros:Cheap. Decent sound. Small. Ugly blue ring around volume knob isn't too bright. |

Don't expect to be bumping bass out of these guys. Not what they were built for. I bought these for my desktop because I had to replace my blown Altec Lansing 2.1 setup I wanted something a little more refined which is why i chose these speakers |
I wanted better sound from my iMac, and these were on sale for about half the MSRP of new ones.Mine are refurbs, and a sticker on the box says they have a cosmetic issue. But, if there is one, I can't find it. The included miniplug-to-RCA cable didn't work, luckily I have way too many cables kicking around and just used one of those. They have decent range and good volume for their size. They don't drown the music in a morass of oont-oontz-oontz muddy bass. And, in my book, that's a good thing. Obviously, the big brother AV-40 would give you more watts and larger drivers, but if you don't need ground-shaking bass or ear-melting volumes, these are decent little speaker.Definitely better than what is built into your computer/monitor/tv/ipod/ipad/etc. Being smaller than 4 or 5 hardcover novels, you can tuck them in pretty much anywhere.
