Product Dead on Arrival...!
Comment:
This eSata Port PCI Express x1 card never worked, in a brand new Windows 7 PC. I eMailed back & forth with Masscool. But, they were unable, or unwilling to resolve the problem. They sent me links to web sites that had driver Zip files, but no instructions. I found this odd, because a PCI Express x1 USB Port card from Masscool worked fine. |

Hit or Miss!
Comment:
I needed an extra IDE port since my new motherboard only had (1). I installed the Masscool adapter, but couldn't get it to work reliably. I tried several combinations with the (3) drives I had but was unable to get everything to work together. May be a good product for some, but I had to return it because of compatability problems. Good Luck! |

Works Perfect, no hassle
Comment:
I'm not sure why others are having trouble with this hardware, I had no problems whatsoever with this. Installed Win7 off a CD Drive connected to this expansion card and everything registered without needing to install the drivers for it yet (100% clean install, not upgrade etc). I actually did that well after I had Windows7 running and grabbed the drivers off the masscool website rather than the small mini CD that came with the hardware. Very much a plug & play hardware device. I would buy from them again. |

Do Not Buy This Junk
Comment:
Plase be advised that the card comes with no instructions. Masscool does not respond to support questions on this card. I do not know if the thing even works. I have wrote Masscool support severly time with no response. I will never buy any thing from Masscool. I plan to uninstall and throw the card in the junk pile on my next clean up which is coming up soon. Masscoll doen not stand behind there products. They are nothing but another electornic junk manufacture. |

Bought it for my friends computer but it didn't work there. He is running Vista but it wouldn't install. Installed it in my old computer running XP and it worked. There is NO DOCUMENTATION so if something doesn't work the first time you are left on your own. |

Works in my machine
Comment:
the SATA & e-SATA just blasts any USB2 or 1394a or b connection @ 3Gbps / 3,000Mbps. The IDE Channel on the card interferes with the integrated IDE channel on the MB, the driver disabled the DMA channel of the second IDE device on the integrated IDE channel and every time I re-enable it, it's disabled again after re-boot. I used it to hook up an internal SATA drive and an external SATA drive in a Thermaltake MAX 4 Hard Drive Enclosure, I haven't tested the adding of any drives to the IDE channel but will do this eventually. If I need another one this will be the one I get. |

I was not able to get this card to work and it repeatedly crashed my computer until it would no longer boot, even with the card removed. I had to re-install my Vista operating system. It comes with no instructions. I'm usually good at figuring out hardware and software problems, but this one stumped me. I threw the card out and bought a USB to IDE cable connect instead that works just fine. |

I was building a new machine and bought this card because the motherboard I was buying (Intel DG35EC) only had one IDE channel. Was having lots of trouble getting the machine to consistently boot. Finally updated the card's driver and all seemed good. Not so. After using for a day or two it was up to its old tricks again. I tried multiple configurations to get this card to work: one HD, one optical drive per IDE channel, both HDs on the card, both opticals on the card. Thought the final was working, but windows XP pro would blue screen within an hour of booting. Pulled all drives off the card's IDE channel, still trouble. Pulled the card and so far so good. It's a shame I didn't have the experiences of other reviewers. I could really have used this card. Will now probably bite the bullet and buy SATA optical drives. |

This little beauty works like a charm. Like previous reviewer, I had two older IDE hard drives and bought a kit that had a mobo with only one IDE port. No problems at all. |

Worked great but you must use master and slave jumpers. I used it for a CD and DVD drive and used the one motherboard IDE cable for harddrives. This allows you to use your older IDE drives easily. Just wish the connector cable was SATA instead of USB. Might be faster. |
Installed easily and set up for future use.
