It did what it was Suppose to Do
Comment:
It did what it was suppose to do. The price seems high when you open the box and see this tiny thing. But it does work. |

Comment:
Piece of garbage. It does not work and tech support is worthless. |

Perfect adapter, small size
Comment:
The adapter is small so it doesn't take up valuable space in your tower. I had just installed a new IDE hard drive in my old computer before the rest of it started wearing out. Not wanting to waste a new hard drive, I bought this adapter so I can use the new IDE hard drive in my new computer that requires a SATA connection. What can I say? This little gem saved the day! |

Not worth the trouble
Comment:
Tried all possible jumper settings and had no luck. The lack of a casing makes it very fragile too. Would not recommend this product. |

Good, cheap solution
Comment:
It does what it's supposed to, ran my old IDE DVD drive without any complications. A bit awkward to install, considering it feels a little flimsy, but overall, it's exactly what I needed. |

Adapter
Comment:
It works good if you have plenty of room. But it does let you use a 4 pin floppy connector. |

nice but....
Comment:
I got this to use with a spare harddrive as a second drive on a SATA mobo. It worked well right from the start with no issues. It compact size and orientation make it a low profile in the case . The lower mark for quality is for the connection being the only support for it and you have to ensure that it isn't knocked loose. |

Not as easy
Comment:
I work as a sound designer and I upgraded my music pc and had 2 disk ide that I needed to transfer and bought this little bridge. The end up working but I had to use the comments on here to try different options (jumper settings....) It works but definitely not plug and play! |

Nice and easy
Comment:
Device works fine. Extremely easy to install. If you have ever played with the insides of your computer then you should have no problem with this. Common sense will tell you what to do. Anyone with a problem with this should maybe stick to ordering your computer needs as complete units. |

Didn't work at first
Comment:
My system didn't recognize this device at first. I tried different option settings (master, cable select) and it still didn't work. I tried another device that I had ordered for comparison which did work. I retried this device because of space limitations and it started working. One of the jacks may not have been making a good connection. The final drive configuration was just as it had been when used as an IDE device (set as master). The board is a little flimsy but is tucked nicely up against the drive and should not prove to be a problem. There is no documentation that comes with this device and there is a jumper setting on the device with no explanation of how to set it. Once I got it working the device worked as advertised. |

gr8 product :) !!!
Comment:
As others have said no instruction but if you move the jumper to cable select works perfect. I installed 3 of them on 3 different cd/dvd drives and they work perfect! The OS is windows XP Pro and Windows Server 2003 and even works on expandended PCI SATA cards!!! |

Eventually Worked
Comment:
Comes with no instructions. It did not work straight out of the box hence the wasted time. I read every review I could find for advice. I finally found some advice that worked: for my Western Digital HDD I needed to put the HDD in cable select mode with a jumper. Other posts recommended putting the drive in Master mode, but that was incorrect in my case. So if you have problems with Master try Cable Select. Also the connectors supplied were of low quality. The wires kept falling out of the harnesses. I didn't notice it once and there was a live red power wire floating around in the case :( As other have posted, be careful that you make the IDE connection with the right side up since you can do it upside down. |

NO INSTRUCTIONS!
Comment:
FIRST I ORDERED THE WRONG PART. I THOUGHT IT WOULD WORK FOR WHAT I NEEDED BUT I WAS WRONG. IT CAME WITH NO INSTRUCTION SHEET. IF I WOULD HAVE ORDERED THE RIGHT PART I AM SURE IT WOULD WORK. TD IS THE BEST I HAVE FOUND. |

Worked as advertized
Comment:
Worked out of the box in Ubuntu Linux. BIOS and OS sees drive and configures it correctly. NOTE: IDE connector does not have missing center pin so can be installed UPSIDE DOWN. Maybe this is the trouble others are having. Nice: Works!!. sata cable and IDE power splitter included. Not nice: no instructions (guessed and put CDROM in master mode w/ jumper). no housing.. exposed board (cheesy) |

Spent 1 1/2 hours fooling with this mini-converter and never got it to work even with the Masscool tech support at my long distance and time resource expense. Returned to TD for refund. |

MASSCOOL XWT-GHQ04 IDE to SATA Convert
Comment:
bought 2 units both worked rite out of box 1 on harddrive the other on dvd burner allows me to boot from dvd burner and install the operating system even seams to load faster Les |
I bought this to replace a ribbon cable. WIth the way this fits on hard drives, I could not put it on the hard drive unless I ripped out the power switch. After moving the hard drive to a different location and doing the proper jumper settings, I still could not get it running. I will update if I get it to work someday as it was a very old system I was putting this in.
