MEDIAGATE MG-800HD Digital Set-Top Box
Cons:Network connections drop  after extended use even when transferring (might be a heat issue)

Pros:Easy to use and setup (less than 5 minutes)Covers pretty much all video formats
Comment:
Having tried several other types of media devices I was quite pleased with this one from the get go. Navigation is quick (compared to the delays with MG-700PVR). Setting system up on network is absolutely painless. Other computers on the network had no issues seeing and connecting to this device once it was setup. The less than 5 minute setup is including the time it took to remove it from the box. Hardest part was connecting the drive. Streaming works well from computer files, however, transferring large files from computer to device drive is somewhat slow. Had several reboots of device required after transferring several DVD images. Direct connection through USB much quicker and no disconnects.Would highly recommend this device.Only draw back that is worth mentioning so far is the DTS audio files require amp hook up, but regular audio 2 channel and 5.1 works fine without (just connected through TV)

MEDIAGATE MG-800HD Digital Set-Top Box
Cons:- sometimes quirky when browsing the network (sensitive to browse master issues on a home network; probably not an issue with only 1 or 2 PCs)- claims DTS playback but it's really DTS pass-through so you have to connect it to a receiver that decodes DTS

Pros:- plays all the formats I need (DivX, Xvid, MP4, MKV)- easy enough to set up (wired and wireless)- solid build- sees UPnP devices quickly- streams fast enough both wirelessly and on 100Mbps- plays off any attached USB device (inc. NTFS formatted drives)
Comment:
Overall it's a great little device. I replaced my MG-350 with this so I could decode newer formats (esp. hi-def MKVs). The DTS decode / pass-through was annoying at first but once connected to my receiver all is good. I have a fairly complex LAN at home and have experienced odd browse master issues at times when browsing the network but sorted it out finally by forcing a known working system to always be the browse master (it didn't like some of my other systems).
