This is a great little gizmo! Got it on sale at less than 10 bucks, bought 3 of them for stocking stuffers! Charged mine up, threw some photos on the memory stick and took it to work to await my mid day battery drain. Worked as described. It took my phone up from 52% battery to 57% in no time while I was using the phone despite it saying it was only a battery "booster". Great price, good design and it actually works! It's a unique little device which should come in handy.It charged a fair bit faster than in the instructions - it should be 3 hours total, 1 hour for each battery light - perhaps it had some charge from the box but it took less than 2 hours to get it fully charged from the 1st battery light. It does get quite hot when charging though, but I suppose that's to be expected. It's also quite large for a USB drive and blocks adjacent USB ports - again, that's to be expected since there's a battery inside. However Macally has kindly included a USB extension cable if this proves to be a problem.2 GB is quite small for a USB drive these days, 4 GB should be the minimum and 8 GB would be even better. The drive works like any other USB stick.I haven't tested the battery backup time but it does work fine in an iPhone 4 (the box is old and indicates it only works up to the iPhone 3G, but it does work on an iPhone 4). The iPhone indicates it's on line power so it does deliver backup battery power. Given its size I would be very surprised if it delivered one hour of extra talk time as promised in the instructions, the specs on the NCIX page indicated 25 minutes and that would be much more realistic. That's still fine in an emergency.Recommended. |

For $6.99, this was a bargain. There's no way you'll get 1 hour of talk time out of it, though. I'd say 15 minutes is more than possible, and in the event that you need the emergency power it should be more than good enough. PLUS it's a 2GB flash drive, and a sync cable.I wouldn't recommend paying more than $15 for this, though. |
item arrived today, works as described, a great gadget to add to the iphone accessories i have, and handy with the dual purpose of a booster and a usb drive, even if only 2GB storage.
