Item arrived in 7 days with preferred shipping. Outer box was damaged, MSI MB box was also damaged. The AMD processor was on the bottom of the box with no packaging underneath the CPU box. Hopefully all parts will function regardless of rough ride, the shipping, and lack of packing material.

-Dip Switch OC-Set up w/ no software program difficulties-Detected every thing on the first go, installed Win7 3 min soon after the entire machine was put with each other-All heatsinks are the suitable height, no rubbing elbows with aftermarket CPU coolers-Horizontal SATA connections-No difficulty installing a big Zalman cooler with stock brackets -Only came with 1 sata cable (my fault for not checking)-I/O plate is not very beefy, bent it twice attempting to get it in (small issue, no biggie) I really do wish it came with far more than 1 sata cable, had to scavenge two from my old machine (converted into a media server). Dropped proper in the case with no troubles, picked every little thing up on 1st attempt, and was in windows installing drivers in about 10 min. Not negative for my initially MSI board and 1st AMD technique in 10 years!

I have been creating PCs for 20 years. I consider this motherboard has a lot to provide. I got a excellent deal on it, I paid ๟ and still have บ rebate coming.SATA III fantastic USB 3. Great Sturdy motherboard Mil. Specs I feel the correct angle sata connectors are a discomfort, I had to modify cases mainly because there was no room to connect the sata cables. Also, they are incredibly tightly packed in, and the sata III cables I got have fat connectors with a latching clip. I plugged them in on leading of each and every other and now I can't get them out. I assume it would be much better to have the sata connectors facing up like the other systems I have construct not too long ago.

I honestly like this board. It's effortless to use and install. My only complaint is that ethernet cables do not click into the port on mine, so my ethernet cable falls out just about every time i move my situation, but other than that it's a excellent board. Ethernet port

nice heatsinks, and capacitors appear to be really high quality. Great functional bios and will boot usb devices. Board failed immediately after six months. Memory no longer functions in Dual Channel (albeit operates in single channel mode). Had to troubleshoot error with spare corsair power provide, spare motherboard, spare cpu and hours with numerous diagnostics (i.e. memtest86). All point to MSI 890gx as the culprit. Other cons include, weak pci-e graphics release tabs Ƒ broke with minimal work). Poor placement of Cmos reset jumper. I hope MSI will RMA the board rapidly and effortlesly. I will see. fortunately I had a spare AMD3 CPU (had 1055t and sempron 140), spare am3 890gx motherboard, corsair hx620 PS, OCZ 550W ps, and 4g dd3 memory ƒg x two) and 4g dd3 memory corsair ƒg x two). Working with procedure of elimination, MSI 890gx nevertheless no boot dual channel. Oh properly. It worked for six months hassle totally free. I see no visible troubles with parts on the board (bad caps and so forth) Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued MSI Buyer,We would like to apologize for the situation you have experienced with this certain mb. Totally absolutely nothing. Possibly this is an ok mobo but I wouldn't know. It was defective. Soon after quite a few hours spent testing my hardware I've concluded that this mobo is defective. At initially the pc would power on but not post, then would post but shut off soon thereafter. Then it would not post for a number of a lot more hours. Occasionally the method would even run for 30 minutes or so ahead of it either shut down or I receive a windows blue screen error. I've tested to make positive it wasn't the GPU. Also when I look in the BIOS hardware monitor almost everything is running at a reasonable temperature. I got an RMA number from newegg and shipped it out to their headquarters. Right after they received it I got an e mail notifying me that the serial number was removed and my warrant has been voided. I never removed any labeling or anything at all from the motherboard. General this has been a horrible experience and I'm not positive who to blame. I've by no means had a difficulty with newegg but this will undoubtedly overshadow all my other excellent experiences with newegg. Very good board. Inexpensive, but works great for my purposes on a house server. Appreciate the integrated graphics for my headless server, but can do video when needed for installation and troubleshooting. All micro ATX boards appear to have slots close together. So if adding any cards which have a massive fan that may well cover up an further slot.

Smaller. Incredibly excellent documentation. On-line help from MSI is extremely good. Has almost everything you need on the board. No Firewire I am not a gamer, so this board with an AMD 955 Quad Core and four gigs of Ram is possibly overkill for me. My windows expertise scores almost doubled form the dual core I had been running. It was a really straightforward system to build. Window 7 configured with no a hitch.

The board was uncomplicated to install, has good cooling characteristics (read aluminum pipes) on the Northbridge and Southbridge, and I was in a position to set up the I/O shield without any effort. For a mATX, this mobo is Complete of great attributes and and is strong with the automatic OC'ing. It auto-OC'd my Phenom II x4 955BE to three.63GHz with the click of a button in its software program (not BIOS). And, Im running idle at 40 degC and 52 degC on load on stock cooler - amazing! Also, there is a physical rapid OC button on the mobo that I haven't employed yet :DThe SATA III port style at 90degs is a phenomenal function for my videocard close to the 1st PCIe x16 slot. In my old Asus Mobo, the SATA headers had been upright and a single of the SATA cables virtually melted for getting in speak to with the videocard (which I had FORCE in to be able to get it into the slot). No such concerns with this poor boy.If you want expandability on a budget, this board is the very best selection. And, as often, MSI creates a good quality product.I'm really h Soon after two weeks of use, so far, there are no cons. The board posted devoid of a hitch on the very first hookup, and almost everything else is Effectively organized on it. 1 thing that could be worth thinking about if you want to use that PCIe x1 slot: If you have a dual slot videocard, it will cover that PCIe x1 slot. I am not confident if it would work, but you could then attempt utilizing the bottom PCIe x16 slot for your video card to be able to use that PCIe x1. That is the tradeoff for a mATX sized board conmpared to a complete ATX one.Considering that I don't have a use for that slot, this board was perfect. It has SATA III at 6Gb/s and USB 3. techologies, as well as assistance for x6 Thuban CPUs, AND it is a gaming board - so simple OCing. All-in-all, a future-proof board for at least the subsequent five years. Also, I can effortlessly use this board for Xfire later, or I could use my existing GTX260 core 216 as a committed PhysX card when I do get myself a high end DX11 card to go along with it in the distant future :D

Good audio, good overclocker, CROSSFIRE!!, usb three. sata 6gb, simply the best mATX mobo CMOS reset is only by jumper which is between the top and bottom pcie slots. Seriously take away that silly easy OC switch and place a CMOS reset one particular in or just a button. This thing is all I could want. I run it at a 250mhz bus ྐྵ%OC) all the time with no errors and no heat difficulties. The capacity to adjust definitely every little thing is in the BIOS for this factor and offers you plenty of room to tweak, I specially like how there is so quite a few ram multipliers so you can have that great ram speed at pretty much any fsb speed.

Excellent chipset and graphics The automatic bios settings set the voltage for my kingston hyper x RAM also low. I spent countless hours troubleshooting random freezes, and lastly read on a newegg assessment for this product that reported underclocked ram also. Had to manually set the voltage. Wasted hours of my life that I'll never ever get back. check your memory voltage if you have difficulties. Good board overall, does every little thing except dishes. I can not get the onbaord video to allow. In the BIOS there is a "enable VGA" option, but the only choice is disable. Believed If I could reset the CMOS it would support, no joy. Next, tried removing an aftermarket PCI-E card, so see if it could 'see' the onboard, no joy. All I want to do is use the DVI onboard, but neither the DVI or VGA are working. Apart from the onbaord video, every little thing else operates good beneath Ubuntu Netbook ten.ten; including Echolink via Wine. -USB 3.-SATA III-Half-decent onboard graphics-Plugged everything in when I started my construct, turned it on, and everything just worked right off the bat. -Nothing I didn't know before acquiring the board, but I wish it had far more than 1 three-pin fan connector. I got this board as portion of a combo deal from Newegg with the AMD Phenom II 955. If the combo hadn't been such a great deal, I in all probability would have gone with a distinct board as some of the unfavorable reviews on this one particular had me a little nervous. I'm glad I went with it anyways - anything operates perfectly. I haven't tried to update the BIOS or something however, but I'm not super concerned about it. It has all the existing functions 1 would anticipate from a new motherboard for a decent price.

Dual PCIe 16x in an mATX element makes for a great Lan party rig. Simple to use Bios. Northbridge overclocks like a champ on air to about two.7ghz, and I have the 1090t overclocked at 4.2 motherboard energy provide placement puts pressure on either IDE/sata headers or you have to run more than the video cards if employing a PSU on the bottom of the case. A single reviewer stated he had difficulties installing the driver cd that came with the motherboard. I ask if windows 7 installed almost everything automatically, why were you attempting to load a driver disk. Secondly, why had been you employing a driver disk for the ATI drivers when everyone knows they update each 1-2 mo? Some folks seriously will need to lower their level of tech expertise on newegg since they clearly shouldnt be giving other persons assistance on their purchases. This motherboard is great and possibly the ideal mATX AMD presently accessible

The only high top quality component m-ATX board on the marketplace of its kind. Has future-proof characteristics like USB3 and SATA III with assistance for newer processors and fast RAM. The placement of most elements are excellent and let for a great range of usability. BIOS is very disappointing and severely limits the hardware. Came default with v1.6, when updated to v1.7 I could not boot the identical settings for my CPU/RAM. Voltages and temperatures were also reported differently in between the BIOS revisions, so I am not sure which to trust. The placement of the CMOS jumper is horrible. It is ideal behind the initial x16 graphics slot. I had to remove my card and ended up employing onboard graphics to test due to frustration. When I lastly got working settings, I put the graphics card in only to have the system fail to boot. This is the first board I have had in a lengthy even though that black screens on CMOS failures forcing a reset.Soon after a weeks use, it died completely when I started out up a game yesterday morning...On AMD, I cant see the benefit of this NB more than the 880G. The SB, although better, nonetheless has a broken AHCI implementation which will limit your SSD potential. This is not MSI's fault, but need to be viewed as when acquiring any existing AMD boards My rating was not due to the chipset limitations, MSI can't enable that, or even that the board died as disappointing as that is. My rating is based solely off of the capacity of the board which does not live up to its expectations.Any attempts to overclock on this board made it unstable on the v1.6 bios. When employing v1.7, it would not overclock as nicely as the prior bios and in some cases not run standard stock settings for my RAM. It has been quirky, and unreliable. This is my initially MSI board, and truthfully, even when the board was working for that week, it was like pulling teeth when working with it. Nicely the board does perform, and if I could get to use all its energy I might be a pleased guy. Drivers and assistance has been a huge disappointment. MB came with a driver CD that is a year out of date and gets a fatal error when attempt to install from it. Smart driver update on their web page gets a various fatal error. Downloading all the drivers from the MB page gets me most of the way up, but graphics are nevertheless crippled. There is a massive driver pack with ATI drivers, but zero instructions, and after running unique setup's that appear they may possibly be what I will need I still have a VGA driver error, no HW Graphics, no directX. Operating blind, I tried drivers from the ATI net web-site, still without achievement. Clearly there are graphics drivers missing, but I shouldn't have to invest 2 days attempting to locate where they are.And then when I go to the MSI help web site, there is this message that 'we' are on holiday for the subsequent week, so I can't get any assistance. I have installed a couple of dozen motherboards from several manufacturers, this is my initially MSI board, simply because I believed the very good ratings they were acquiring right here. I would Never get another one particular - not just due to the fact of the difficulties I am having, but simply because the general support (hard to read or inadequate documentation, lack of info on the net web site, outdated CD, unavailable assistance) appears inferior to other MB producers I have had expertise with. For starters, this board has a lot going for it. Sata 6gb, USB 3, (only a couple of ports) and 2 PCI-E for Xfire help. Ok. Overclocking isn't that wonderful. I'm in a position to comfortably take the bus as high as 250 mhz, but if I go anywhere past that, even with a reduced NB link and operating ram below spec, The board won't boot to windows and will have huge information corruption issues prompting a reinstall of windows. Definately frustrating. Fantastic board, a lot to like, but don't expect massive overclocks with it.

This board had pretty much all of the functions that I wanted. If I make a decision to get an ATI video card I can also use hybrid Crossfire but I wanted the two PCIx16 slots so that I could use 1 slot for a dedicated PhysX card. It's just also bad that it couldn't be Crossfire and SLI capable but that's life. This came as portion of a combo and I had been considering it anyway but that was for my old modest case. The combo deal also came with a bigger case so if I had a selection I would've gone with an ATX board that had SLI. All in all though this board will do wonderful in the Antec 300 when I accomplished with it. When I'm ready for SLI I'll make a superior Computer if I don't adjust my mind about ATI.

Its a smaller board but is packed with features. it actually has it all. Set up (assembly) is a breeze, Windows 7 installs perfectly. MSI update lets you get the newest BIOS and drivers. Its prepared for 6 core processors and SATA 3 so it can be upgraded in the future. That should extend its life a bit longer. None that I noticed
