I am not positive that I have owned/operated this board extended enough to make a reccomendation, but i am pleased so far, thinking about my final Pc was an AMD x2 4800+ socket 393 with and ASUS A8N-SLI board (*cough* junk).Right here are my purchasing choice pros:- millitary components- two x 8pin energy connecters for CPU voltage- 6 x PCIE interfaces- OC panel with base clock incremental up/downThis board looks and performs properly (as far as I have employed it) It POSTs fine, nice to have the POST status indicators onboard to see what is happening. the m-connectors thata come with it are slightly too huge for the places they are supposed to plug into. This is not major deal is I usualy install the front panel PLED, Reset SW, Energy SW and Speaker cables with needle nose plyers anyway. Technique fan 1-4 three pin connectors are in odd to get to places (but what motherboards aren't), but most people just purchase fan controllers.it doesn't make coffee ;-) I have this board in conjunction with the following elements:CPU:Intel Core i7 950 bloomfield revision D0CPU heatsync: CM V8Memory: 6GBƓx2)OCZ Reaper Cas6 Pc 12800 MHz)Video: two x MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II (one is use correct now)Difficult Drives: 1 x 250gb Maxtor SATA - system drive1 x WD caviar Blue 1TB - Media/gamesMy technique temp is 33c... and cpu idles at 32c... thought i would get far better temps with all of this in a Thermaltake Armor total tower case with two x 80mm, 3 x 120mm, and 1 x 250mm fans, in a push pull positive configuration.Maybe reseating my heat syncs with arctic silver five will transform this somewhat :) |

This has to be the greatest value for enthusiast mobo in my life time, it replaced much a lot more costly a single in my rig. The RAM sockets seat the sticks soo nicely and they do not wiggle back and forth, capacitors are all larger, H-cap effectiveness, heat sinks bolted on, added space for major heat sinks, not obtaining floppy, audio, or PATA on mobo is a plus. Just with it's OC Genie, a modest 4.2GHZ on 980X is totally stable; looks like four.five will be my nominal set point. I had to obtain a new PSU that has two CPU 8 pins, and an extra PCI cable, but I required to upgrade to 1000w gold.Restricted to two GPUs in SLI/XF, but with two large ones like my water cooled OC'd GTX 480s, there is absolutely nothing significantly to want beyond this! I had opportunity to use Newegg Consumer Service for 1st time soon after several years of reading all the great comments in these critiques -- I can now attest that it's all true, I was wowed!!! |

This motherboard is brilliant. It does keep cooler than I am used to seeing and it overclocks like a dream. I have 2.80 930 i7 with 6gb a-information 1600 ddr3 ram overclocked to 4.04ghz running stable with my ambient temp staying under 38 though three-d modeling. OC genie functions wonderful as extended as you take the time to make certain settings are appropriate prior to using it. The sound card may not be the greatest in the globe but I find absolutely nothing to complain about with it. the reduce ratings I have observed about this MB seem to be from folks who aren't taking time to figure points out. directions are a tiny lacking if you don't know what you are performing. msi X-power Big BANGi7 930 OC four.046GB a-data ddr3single ati 5770ssdantec 902 case antec ea750 pscorsair h50 liquid cooling |

Most function rich board I've owned, accessories, layout, asethetics, high end board at a fairly sensible price compared to other producers high end boards First board didn't not get previous status code FF, two sysfan connectors had been dead/did not function. I thnk a different owner had the similar issue with the FF status code. I've owned nothing but MSI boards, and they've all been rock solid stable, not so significantly with the Xpower. Dissappointed BUT Newegg created the RMA as smooth as feasible. I was without having the board for about a week. I got yet another XPower, cross my fingers on this one! What a beast! Specs to die for. DEFECTIVE SLI BRIDGES! This situation has been discussed on many forums! Soundcard is not 'on board' and makes use of the only PCI-e 1x slot. I ditched this card for a Soundblaster X-fi external sound device so i could drop an internal WIFI card in its spot. I got a 3rd celebration SLI bridge from newegg and it solved the screen tearing concerns the stock bridges were causing. Nevertheless, when two graphics cards are installed (GTX460s), they only perform sporadically, sometimes requiring several reboots before they function. I have attempted running with and with out the sli-bridge and swapped their slots to no avail. Separately these cards run just fine and score within a point of each and every other on benchmark tests. Exceptional motherboard. I was truly hesitant to get this since of MSI's poor track record with motherboards in recent years. I got this motherboard soon after my Asus P6X58D Premium died and Asus wouldn't honor the warranty since FedEx botched the packaging and damaged some socket pins (great board with some annoying issues even though). The critiques for this mobo said it was a exceptional board. The Quantam Wave sound card is quite decent also. I know others have had difficulties with it, but it has been wonderful for me. I can't genuinely compare it to other sound cards so I can't give an opinion about that. Its totally free though.Has two eight pin connectors for extra CPU stability when OC'ing. Same goes for a additional 6 pin connector for the GPU. I personally don't use them. OC Genie is hit or miss and can occasionally be totally disastrous. It was a disastrous miss for me. Set my Ripjaws at 1600Mhz @ eight-8-eight-24, Uncore at 4800 Ɠx more than ram speed, yikes!) and set my QPI voltage to a ridiculous 1.590. It also set memory VTT to almost two. volts and OC'ed my i7 930 to 3.four Ghz. Technique was totally unstable. Had to reset BIOS and manually OC myself. Once again, there are people who've had results with it so I wouldn't fully abandon it.Board also might not be as well excellent for 3x SLi or 4x SLi. When making use of 2 cards in SLi, you will get 16x bandwidth on the 2nd and 5th PCI-e slots. When you go 3x SLi or 4x SLi, the board divides up the bandwidth in between four lanes and you get a weird mixture with a couple lanes running at 8x and the other two running at 4x. You really should absolutely get it if you are only gonna do 2 cards in SLi although. OC'ed my 930 to 3.8Ghz on my 1st attempt with this board. So sweet. Prime95 and OCCT each 10 hours apiece stable. Temps by no means went above 65 Celsius @ full load. I consider the i7 930 I got was from a great batch. Doesn't hurt that it's D0 stepping also.Specs:i7 930 D0 @ ӯ.8GHzProlimatech Megahalems w/ 2x Yate Loons @ Push/PullBig Bang Xpower MoboG.Ability Ripjaws 6GB 1448 Mhz @ 8-8-eight-24Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPMWD Velociraptor 300GB 10000 RPMAsus HD5970Antec SG850 850W PSUAntec 1200 situation |

Motherboard looks excellent. Quite a few PCI slots. Good add-ons like LCD poster, Quantum Wave soundcard, and so forth. If you ever have a dilemma with the board and contact MSI, you will be wholehearted disappointed, to the point exactly where you regret your purchase. I was possessing complications with the alignment of element cards seated in the motherboard with the case. I contacted CoolerMaster to get a new HAF-X and got a new 1 virtually instantaneously, but the difficulty remained, so I contacted MSI. Right here is the response I got back:"Thank you for contacting the MSI technical support. Sorry we are confused for your description. We suggest you transform another case as MSI motherboard is compliant with Intel® I/O Connectivity Design and style Guide. If you mean that you are feared to destroy the motherboard, you can make contact with your reseller to help check."Nonsense, in particular provided the truth that I sent four pics of the problem along, as well as an over 1000 character description of the difficulty. Oh properly, good point I had 30 days left on my no-concerns-asked return policy at Micr0Center. |

This is obviously the very best x58 motherboard by comparison to all the other high ends in addition to the ASUS Immensity which hasn't began production however (if it ever does). I purchased this board for three major motives: 1. The Hi-c Tantalum Core Capacitors/ferrite chokes/and solid aluminum core capacitors, and general clean socket area which no other motherboard has to my surprise 2. The DUAL EPS 12v 8 pin energy connectors + six pin connector to supply added energy straight to the pci-slots. 3. The ability to use both crossfire and SLI with a remaining slot for a pcix1 sound card (like the X-Fi Titanium Champion Edition). Compared to the other specifications of this mainboard, I completely overlooked the USB 3. and SATA 6Gbps, which are also welcomed characteristics, but not capabilities held by this board alone. Not only is it the finest motherboard ever produced (coming from a 790i ULTRA, Rampage Extreme x48 owner), it expenses much less than numerous of the competing x58 boards. None For some people today the lack of a NF200 Chip for correct quad or tri SLI pci-e 2. X16 is a unfavorable. On the other hand due to the fact scaling amongst 2 cards is the most effective for each ATI and Nvidia cards (including the HD 5000 series and GT 400 series) there is no cause to include the NF200 (reviews for scaling can be observed on guru3d and other important evaluation sites). Excluding it lowered the price tag considerably and allowed them to enhance the general overclocking potential for this board by installing higher good quality components. |

Seriously a nice looking board. Has a lot of bells and whistles on it. Looks to be nicely built. I bought the board to use for more than clocking and it has the extras to do it. Various issues in the bios that I can't adjust as of but like the marvell controller, the delay begin, and jmicron. No major deal but I want control more than them. As effectively some of the drivers for the marvell are not on the disc that comes with the mobo and can be challenging to discover and install. Even so most men and women seeking at the board can probably deal with it. I like the board overall. Its not as significantly support out there for it but as I would like. Hopefully that will adjust in the future. MSI does have a 1 click update on there web site for it which tends to make it seriously easy. However some of the stuff on the web site is older than what came packaged with the board. |

Appealing. Discount and rebate accessible made this board seem desirable. Heatsinks around processor use thermal tape. Two screws hold down each and every of bar heatsinks. The make contact with in between heatsinks and chips is firm at the screw ends with tiny or no speak to amongst heatsink and chips away from the screw ends. I emphasize....the thermal tape shows small or no make contact with in the middle. Speedfan Utility shows 66C at idle and 72C beneath moderate loads. I can see no way to increase contact in the middle of the heatsink bars. Essentially, this makes the engineered design deficient and incorrectable with the installed heatsinks!
