Most of the pros have probably been mentioned already so I'll list what I feel haven't been stated.- Other reviewers say the onboard sound is terrible, but it's actually pretty very good for onboard sound. It's sufficient, not awesome, and you should know that the "audio card" or whatever it's referred to as is just a codec and not really hardware audio in situation you were confused about that. - Although the onboard sound is adequate, I wanted to upgrade to a high-finish sound card but this motherboard has 1 PCI x1 slot and 6 PCI-E slots. 6 PCI-E slots is impressive, but I believe they really should have just put a typical PCI slot at the bottom. No normal PCI slot limits my decision of sound cards severely. It's not like you would be missing anything if that had been the situation since it would still fit 4 double-wide video cards for quad SLI or crossfire. The only actual use for 6 PCI-E slots is for 6 single slot videocards which implies it would almost certainly have to be a lower finish video cards with a smaller heatsink fan or they would all have to be watercooled to fit 6 video cards, but honestly who would obtain 6 video cards?I wasn't thinking about PCI slots when I bought this..but nonetheless this board is still a keeper.I'm just a tiny annoyed there's no PCI slot and this review is only meant to be informative. This motherboard is nevertheless quite fantastic, I just wanted to let you guys know about the no PCI slot ordeal.

NONE Installing Windows 7 was extremely incredibly slow. As soon as installed, anything was sluggish. Once drivers were installed, the program would not boot or would blue screen. Re-installed several occasions. Upgrading BIOS did not enable. Working with newest drivers produced no distinction. Following much troubleshooting, located that the initial RAM slot is negative. Only showing 10240MB with 6 chips installed. Swapped chips about to diverse slots to ascertain that it was a poor slot and not a bad chip. None genuinely. Ordered board with all new components on Jan 1. Just received E8 error on motherboard. Replaced RAM, reset BOIS. Nothing at all in manual concerning E8. I guess it's time to call warranty. This is the initially board to go out on me in a extended time. It is also 1 of the most expensive to buy. I would not recommend this board. Wonderful create high quality and layout, no IDE, overclocking prospective, PCIE sound card wastes no space on back panel, Dual LAN, plenty of SATA connectors ྪ"), debug LED panel and OC dashboard. Great cost compared to comparable overclocking motherboards. Manual short on detail, no mounting screws, no power conector/addaptor for sound card, could have used a couple more case-fan connectors Ɣ+cpu fan). If You update your board you possibly will have to reinstall Windows due to the fact the drivers won't operate.Rather of 6GB triple channel memory, I got 8GB of Corsair Dominator "dual channel" to match the color scheme of the board (only 跋).

Wonderful board for developing a great system if you have the spending budget, the box came with oodles of goodies and I appreciate the external sound card it came with! (Just an added bonus)Certainly the board that you will be future proofing your self with for a extended time! However I could not give this board the 5stars it deserves mainly because of a Q/A fail :S 1 of the pins on the CPU socket was bent 180degrees flat on the floor. I did not notice it at 1st, but when i put in my 16gb of ram windows 7 could only notice 4. After some research some conclusions came towards a bad CPU pin, following thorough investigation I located the negative pin and fixed it with a incredibly thin screw driver. A 3hour headache that got me panicking that I had to RMA the board (which I was able to prevent). Not a con so its right here, I ought to have performed superior study on my portion. This board is top rated of the line so that implies out with the old tech such as IDE ports. kinda sucked that I had to purchase a SATA CD drive to install new windows but oh properly.

It's Fairly. I've been slowly placing together the components to develop myself a gaming system. Sadly this was one particular of the 1st pieces I purchased. I just started putting it all together this month, upon taking off the CPU socket cover two of the pins had been bent. Immediately after installing every thing and turning the power on the board is throwing an FF code. Hopefully I can get it covered but I might be out of luck. The board itself is good, just wish QA had picked up on the bent pins. This is my initially MSI board and it's upsetting that it arrived broken. Top rated of the line item, quite nicely layed out board layer and excellent thermal envelope. Sata 6Gb and USB three.. Enlarged chipset heatpipe and military style transistors. Detatchable audio-card. Extremely overclock friendly according to the manual. My 1st board is defective and wont enable for smooth operation. I as such have to RMA it to newegg and get a new board and hope the new board works as it really should. The concern I am having is that the board has a sluggish chipset which is affecting my efficiency with each my sata controller and my pci lanes. My SSD which averages 245Mb read on other boards cant get over 50Mb on this board ahead of the board fails to transfer. I hope this is just a dud and that the next board will be a star as I actually do like this board from the brief time that I have had with it. I appear forward to recieving a new board and finding my system up and running once more and getting in a position to transform my assessment from this to some thing for positive. I really believe this is a high quality board and that peope really should give it a shot regardless of my small issue that i am getting with a defective order. Newegg and MSI will sort it out i am confident... Excellent motherboard general, posted on 1st startup. Lots of BIOS choices, military class components, and USB 3./SATA 6gb/s. And the cost point is awesome when compared to other motherboards like it. Couldn't be any happier. No true three-way SLI, but that's alright. Buy 1! :p

*shrugs* *No front panel audio connector on board., leaving me stuck with 1 audiocard. Front panel output dedicated for ingame chat, the other is a high end card which I use for audio editing and game audio.*EFI BIOS causes a planet of headaches when trying to use SATA III drive as OS drive. If you have STA II drives from an earlier develop which have non-EFI MBRs on them, the only way to get an OS installed in that scenario is to use v1.4 of the EFI BIOS and select the 2.TB Infinity as first boot.*Cheap, flimsy back panel insert. Not a new issue for MSI. It just adds to hassles.*And the initial huge one. Becuase of several issues with EFI BIOSes and the memory hand off, my 24GB of Patriot Viper Extreme DDR3-1600 was truncated to 32bit addressing leaving me with 2.4GBs useable in Windows after assigning addresses to other hardware. Memtest, Cpu-Z all showed 24GB and all tests passed on the full 24GB.*Last massive one. I am likely stuck with this since of NewEgg's return polic Seriously does infuriate me that I can not return this board according to NewEgg policy. I verified compatibility with my hardware ꀔx, Patriot RAM, XFX 5970 BEs), so there shouldn't be any cause I have to be stuck with this brick of PCB.Prior to anyone goes and tells me there is some thing wrong with my memory, I walked through the Windows bootloader and verified it was only acquiring 4GB of addressable space. As I noted above, memtest, windows memory diag, CPU-Z all show 24GB. Soon after that I don't care whose problem it is. It blocks my operate. And yes, it IS a 64bit version of Windows 7. It's a great motherboard for the price. If only it wasn't old tech for a dead end socket I would have given it five stars. Replaced a faulty p6x58d e with this in lieu of replacing my 4.2ghz i7 w/ a 2011 socket...which would probably have costed a lot more.

Lots of room for expansion. Cool seeking So far Nvidia 460 gtx graphics cards are not performing on this board. There could be an incompatibility with the graphics chip and the board. I went via 3 cards with exact same result, but my old 9800 functions fine. Guess i will have to wait for the 470 or 500 series go down in price. Not a fan of the audio adapter but it functions. Excellent layout, military grade components, several nice characteristics. The motherboard had bent pins on the cpu socket out of the box. Contacted MSI directly and was told this wasn't covered under warranty in spite of this happening out of the box. *Very* disappointed to spend this sort of income on top-notch equipment and not receive top-notch support. I've built numerous systems over the final 12 years and this is the initial time I've had a thing like this happen. Newegg came by way of and will honor the replacement that MSI did not. Thanks Newegg!

Looks gorgeous with a lot more power and functionality than anyone could hope for. The sound card is more than adequate and the layout of the board is just plain fairly. OC genie works like a champ and I defy anyone to uncover one more board that looks far better in the Cooler Master HAF 932 Blue fan version. The BIOS is any overclocker's wet dream. OC dashboard that came with it is kinda neat but a small gimmicky. Who cares...the board itself is fantastic. Looks good, works excellent. Put my technique over the top.

Brought my temps on the cpu and pcb down 10c over my prior Gigabyte X58A-UD5, Rapidly boot up time, sound card isn't as bad as some say, alot quieter than Gigabyte X58A-UD5, 1st board had some glitches, RMA to MSI took 2 weeks and they sent me a perfectly operating board. (Excellent client service.) None actually because RMA worked out wonderful! You Don't actually have to use the two six pin connectors to the cpu, the second one is for overclocking, but considering that i have 1000 watt Corsair HX PSU i use each anyways.I have both MSI Mobo and MSI Geforce GTX 480 and the high quality of the hardware actually shows particularly with them utilizing military class components, the hardware will just last longer.Really Solid hardware, some people have had time difficulties with their RMA's, No Such Issue here! Besides i'd rather they take a small longer and do it right anyways.

Sharp searching board, incredibly stable when overclocked, tons of capabilities and extras Most pricey motherboard I've ever bought. A few glitches revolving about the controllers. I had the identical issue as fellow reviewer John, where I would get hangs when plugging the CD-ROM into the Intel controller while it had a RAID volume. I also would get blue screens in Windows 7 if I attempted working with the Marvel drivers from MSI (just employing whatever Windows installs by default now, no difficulties). This seriously is a good board on the other hand I'm not convinced the extras are worth the cost. I created the plunge mainly because I wanted SATA III and USB three.. If others are in the very same boat and don't thoughts paying a bit far more than a standard mobo, this is a very good board to grab.
