MSI GE60 2OE-002US i7 4700MQ 8GB 750GB 15.6in HD GTX765M 2GB DVDRW Windows 8 Gaming Notebook
Cons:Either the laptop or windows 8 sucks. it has crashed several times on me when simply opening up firefox. the hdmi port has stopped working randomly. it was always plug-n-play with no issues, no it wont work. you have to configure the video card to run with all your games individually, which is annoying. when you close it to go to sleep, it wakes up ~10 minutes later with all fans going, then goes back to sleep. on one of the usb ports, if i resume the computer from sleep, i have to replug whatever was plugged into that port to get it to be recognized again. the touch pad is way too small for windows 8. if you accidentally go too close to the edge you will end up switching screens which is very annoying. dont get this laptop.
Pros:anti glare is nice. the msi suite of software is low maintenance and doesnt bother you for updates, unlike HP products. Comment:
spend the money on a different laptop with windows 7. |

I have to say after following this laptop for a couple years waiting for the right time to buy. Finally I bought this for school and i have to say this thing is a beautiful machine. Fast as ever, great cooling, speakers blow any beats laptop away. The best part is the chicklet style backlit keyboard, which is very hard to find on a lighter laptop.Overall I am extremely happy, this is one hell of a machine and im proud to be an owner of this MSI. |
The first notebook had some loud cracking noises (like a diesel engine) after logging into windows. The problem can be "fixed" temporary by tilting the notebook. To add salt to the wound, the harddrive occasionally generated some clicking noises. Billy at the RMA department was very helpful for creating a RMA for me, although I do not the original packaging. The replacement unit arrived last night. The space bar is not very responsive if not pressed in the middle. The fan stops spinning and spins to full speed in every 10 seconds (a rather well-known issues with MSI notebooks). After hours of troubleshooting, the problem was nailed to the EC firmware. A new firmware can be downloaded from the following site which fixed the problem.http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GE60-2OE.html#downloadOther comments:I tested the temperatures of both units. At idling, the core temp. is around high 30 to low 40 (hwmonitor) and my ambient temp. is ~22C. CPU core and GPU temp. can go up to high 90C under load (max temp was 98C)! If you are worry, you can disable turbo boost by adjusting max. processor state to 99% and CPU core temp. will stay under 90C. Hope this review helps.
