MSI GE70 0ND-032US Intel i7 3610QM 8GB 1TB 17.3in LED GTX660M 2GB DVDRW WLAN Win7 Notebook
Cons:Windows button on keyboard is on right side of space bar instead of left - will take a bit of getting used to.Front cover is much glossier than the picture portrays - cosmetic so not really a big deal but it shows fingerprints.
Pros:Fast graphics and processorImpressive sounding quality speakersVery nice displayDefinitely best value at time of purchase |

Cons:glossy finish can be a finger print magnet

I have been searching for a gaming capable laptop for months before deciding on the ge70. The value of the msi-ge series simply cannot be beat, you can go to other big box stores and spend $500 more and still won't find anything that's considerably more powerful. Currently I am running a couple of 2012 major block-buster game titles on max setting with very smooth frame rates. Highly recommended for anybody looking for a decent amount of power and performance without hurting their wallet. The matte screen and the 4 speakers are absolutely amazing for a laptop. |
I bought this laptop so I could play Starcraft II at my friends' house without having to drag my desktop PC. It runs at 1920x1080 with ultra settings perfectly.I ran 3dMark 11 and beat Chris' desktop PC that has HD 5750 graphics. My score was: P2670 - (Graphics 2434, Physics 7831, combined 2122)CPU temperature is bout 50 at idle in a hot room in the summer and temp reaches 100 during heavy gameplay, but that is consistent with other Ivy bridge laptops and is within the TJMax of 105.I get about 2 hours on full battery with light use (not gaming) which I think is good for a 17" screen, thanks to the low TDP of Ivy Bridge CPU and Kepler video card. Some laptops have a 670M instead of the 660M but the 670m is old technology and uses twice the battery power and runs hotter, but is only a little more powerful. I wanted the 660m for the efficiency.I'm very happy with my purchase. PS - The sound from the speakers is shockingly clear too!
