Very nice laptop from MSI. This will and might be my last gaming laptop until I actually get a job. Carrying around this baby can show off to other students in Collage and University. Excellent cooling without using the dual-fan solution. However, I still prefer the dual-cooling solution over the one giant fan and 2 heat pipe solution. My back gets sore after carrying this on the bus for 1 hour. It can be some sort of workout there. The booting on this laptop can take quite a few minutes before actually playing on it. I prefer to swap out the HDD and swap in a lighter SSD to give it more lightweight and faster booting speed. If you're looking for a portable Desktop PC, the GT60-003US is an awesome choice. I'm sad that I did not get any bonuses when I bought this laptop. Right now I'm looking at 15'6 inch laptops that is anything but lighter than 7.7+ pounds. |

MSI GT60 2OC-003US i7 4700MQ 12GB 750GB 15.6in FHD NVIDIA GTX770M 3GB BR BT4.0 Win8 Gaming Notebook
Cons:- A bit heavy- Lots of pre-installed bloatware - A bit bulky
Pros:- Excellent power management- Quick and powerful Comment:
I bought this laptop expecting a good machine with a good amount of power, but with mediocre power life. I got quite a pleasant surprise with it. Excellent components and the battery life is unbelievable. Between good power management and the improved power draw of the Haswell chips, this laptop lasts a good 5 hours (and probably more though I haven't really tested it fully yet). It also runs surprisingly cool. I can run Battlefield 3 on it, and while it does it warm, it's not nearly as toasty as most other laptops playing BF3. Overall, this laptop is a surprisingly good buy. I was expecting a solid machine with mediocre battery life, and got a great machine with good battery life. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for this type of laptop. |
OK,I've been buying ASUS and MSI products for my whole computing life. I finally went back to MSI after many years of dedicated, mid-higher end ASUS desktop builds, mainly because I need something for school work while I'm away at work and for recreational gameplay at the same time. The laptop is small and light with a good processor, decent ram, and a tidy package. I won't go into the Windows 8 thing too much, however I am planning on taking time for an 8.1 update ASAP. I find that the battery runs down pretty quick, even with all of the fancy keyboard LEDs disabled and running barebones software. Screen resolution is great and it does the trick for playing Skyrim, COD, etc.I do have a couple of issues that I've been running into with fan overspeed at startup on occasion - the fan ramps up quite dramatically and the only way I can stop it is to shutdown. This is a new laptop and I'm hoping that I can fix it with a bios or software update when I install my new SSD.All-in-all, satisfactory. I'm kinda wishing I spent a bit more for a better video card, but that was a personal decision I made at the time. I'll rate it 4 stars. If I can't resolve the fan overspeed issue, I'll be back to drop that rating down!Cheers and thanks!
