MSI GTX 465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Fermi 607MHZ 1280MB 320-BIT GDDR5 2XDVI PCI-E Video Card
Cons:
-Got a faulty one and had to RMA it
Pros: -Sweet price on special sale, and comes unlocked to 470GTX and a decent copper cooler-Length of card is shorter than the reference design, even with the copper cooler Comment:
I initially got the card at PM price to $268 without any games, but then when I got it, it was faulty, and so I had to RMA it in store. Confirmed it is indeed faulty, and at the same time, I saw a special price on it for $260 from Hardwarecanucks news letter, so I got a refund for my faulty purchase, and got a new card at a slightly lower price that included Just Cause 2.The card is unlocked by Linus, who did a fabulous job turning this 465 gtx into a 470 gtx. It gives me almost twice the amount of performance as my old XFX 8800gt, and it runs quite cool with the copper cooler.Funny how there are a few faulty unlocked cards that are being sold, and ended up being RMA. I guess Linus didn't have enough time to unlock and test each card individually. |

MSI GTX 465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Fermi 607MHZ 1280MB 320-BIT GDDR5 2XDVI PCI-E Video Card
Cons:
Had to RMA first unit
Pros: Price, performance, appearance Comment:
I got this PM'd down a chunk and without the regular game assortment, so for me the value was quite good. The first unit was broken out of the box so I'm hoping that second unit will be better. Sometimes that happens though so no big deal. Many users say this is a great card and I'm sure I will agree with them. Very nice looking card, scratches easy though haha. |

MSI GTX 465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Fermi 607MHZ 1280MB 320-BIT GDDR5 2XDVI PCI-E Video Card
Cons:
Heavy as a 2.8 pound brick
Pros: FastCoolLooks awesomeLinus personally flashes the bios into a 470 Comment:
It's like a GTX 470, but cheaper, and with a sweet cooler. It's only too bad this is a limited edition card. Better get them soon before they disappear. If you're reading this review stop now and just buy it. You won't be sorry. ;-) |
The first card that I got couldn't handle the GTX 470 BIOS, so I'm gonna return it tomorrow. I can hardly give the card a bad review simply because it can't run at a speed rated higher than the manufacture's specs.Did some benchmarking and overclocking after flashing a stock 465 BIOS into the card and I was just blown away.Everything that was said on the GPU's box about temperature performance and overclocking results was not only true, but an understatement. I was able to bring the card to insane clocks. A whopping 32% over the stock clocks with crazy low temperates to boot.MSI is seriously selling themselves short with their advertising. The free games were just gravy.Grab them while they last!!
