It was easy to install and works great with Skype. When you have children living out of state or overseas, the LifeCam is a great way to keep in touch.

4 is ny highest rating all electronics over priced. Only cons is the activate button on top is not programable. It only auto starts windows live messanger. It would be nice to program it for what I use too! Image quality is great for the price!

I got this to replace an older one that needed a seperate microphone. I was surprised at how much better the picture is. It sits on top of my flat panel monitor perfectly. It was very easy to set up and it works perfectly.It really is a good deal.

I purchased two of these webcams, having never owned one up to this point. The installation of the driver software was painless, and I got the webcam set up and working with Skype in no time. A good deal for the price!

Remember the days of having a crappy Web-cam that was slow and generally unresponsive and also having a weird and obtrusive microphone on your computer desk? Well thank God those days are over. This camera is small, flexible and high quality. I saw cheaper cameras and I am glad I decided to spend more for this model. Installation was quick and I am able to Skpye conference calls whenever I want to. The only advice I would give you is to go through your operating system to install the drivers for the camera. IF you don't you will end up with a lot of programs on your computer that will hog up memory at startup and you may never use.

Works great only draw back is u have to use the microsoft msger software to utilize the button o0n the cameranot compatible with skype 9which is the prog I use with camera)

This was my first webcam. It had an easy set up and I was using Gmail video chat within minutes. No problems at all.

Set the web cam up with skype in about 5min. Picture is clear and microphone picks up voice great.

This camera is really nice and I would recommend it. The only problem is that after the computer returns from sleep the camera is sometimes not detected (Vista-64). It is shown on the device manager, but cannot be detected otherwise. Upon disabling and re-enabling the device, it will not work and must be physically disconnected and reconnected. It is impossible to get help from Microsoft, which is annoying. This could just be a USB problem and not related to the camera, so take my review with a grain of salt. I'd still recommend the camera in spite of my problems.

Webcam has nice detail and adjusts well to different light levels. Integrates easily with XP. I used Google Video Chat and it was compatible with no problems.

Good picture quality, nice mic, the effects are also fun. But they take a little while to detect your face. Good camera overall.

I purchased the Microsoft Lifecam VX-5000 Sharp Video Web Cam, to stay in touch with my daughter on the west coast and grandbaby. It loaded fine, no problem, I even choose not to use Windows Live, to speak with the kids, but I used Skype with the camera, and everything works great. I am very happy with it, I use it a couple of times per week. The price was right, the sound and the picture quality is also great. Best purchase for so little money. I give this webcam a 100 rating if one exists.

I bought this for my mother in law that lives out of state as a way to keep in touch better. Worked great from the first time I turned it on. Video quality via Windows Live Messenger is GREAT. Looks much better than my own camera at home. Sound is natural and it really works well in low light. The button at the top that brings up Windows Live Messenger works great for her - very easy to use. I definitely would recommend this camera over more high priced ones on the market. Flexible arm is nice too and stays in place on an LCD monitor. BUY THIS CAMERA if you videochat.
