Microsoft Lifecam VX-2000 Webcam USB Retail
Cons:- Low quality in almost every retrospect excluding build quality- Bad value

Pros:- It shoots video and takes pictures- Mounts with a monitor, and looks good
Comment:
For the price that you can get this for, a simple bump in budget of 10 or so dollars can get you a much better quality webcam. I skype a lot with overseas friends in Hong Kong and they all me that they can't hear me unless I'm perfectly still, otherwise the audio will cut out. I've tried this on multiple systems and my upload speed is certainly not the issue at hand. Maybe I got a shoddy one from Microsoft but it really doesn't seem like the case. The video quality is decent to poor. The low light adjustment works, but it kills the framerate of the video (bringing it down to 9-20, constantly bouncing around in that FPS range), and when I'm skyping, it's very distracting for the other person to see me lagging around. Turning it off via the Lifecam software brings the FPS back to standard 30. The camera however has lasted 2 years. I don't move the camera, and nor do I recall it ever falling, so I commend it on that. The camera is essentially the same as the day I bought it (excluding the dust build-up).(Would've given this a 2/5 star rating, but considering that I bought this at Futureshop over years ago, I don't have the Order ID required to give it a low rating, but this deserves a 2/5, NOT a 3/5)

Microsoft Lifecam VX-2000 Webcam USB Retail
Cons: 1.3MP sensor isn't amazing. Comparing this to a Lifecam HD 5000 is light night and day.

Pros: Solid, if unspectacular webcam. This camera works great, and the software installation is straightforward.
Comment:
This webcam is a solid deal when on sale. Windows detected it instantly and it works very well. At full price, explore other options, especially if you can get a 2.0MP webcam or higher on sale. The Microsoft 720p series of webcams just blow this one out of the water, with better video and audio quality overall.

Microsoft Lifecam VX-2000 Webcam USB Retail
Cons: -not the fanciest camera-many better cameras exist

Pros: -Inexpensive-easy to hookup-well packed-most of packing is recyclable
Comment:
I purchased this camera while it was on sale; definitely a worth while purchase while on sale. Normal price would be a fair price for this product, but there are probably better products from different manufacturers out there for the same price. The base allows the camera to sit well on a desktop lcd monitor. I had another camera which refused to stay on my monitor which is why I purchased this. The lifecam software is not required and windows 7 seemed to be able to sort out its driver on its own.
