Works great, with one feature missing...
Comment:
Appreciate the OEM pricing, and it overall works very well for me. Was never a detractor of Vista, but do think this is quite a bit better. My only issue is that it doesn't have Remote Desktop in this version, so I can't initiate a remote login from my laptop (I would have to initiate a Remote Assistance session, instead).

Best OS from MS in a while
Comment:
So many new features that it's hard to find some of the old ones. I'm also running 64 bit so incompatibilities happen both from the 64 as well as W7. Some 32 bit programs work fine but the popular web-authoring and photo programs from one company do not. I haven't found any DOS shell so those may be history too. This is an upgrade from XP-pro and so far it seems to boot and manipulate things faster and more logically.

Just rebuilt son's gaming system and so far everything is better than expected. No hickups yet from any of the parts that were replaced. He is extremely happy with the results.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack
Cons:Lack of drivers for older systemsComplexity added with no reason for some simple tasks

Pros:StableNice interfaceSecure but without bothering the user
Comment:
I got this for my Laptop (HP dv8100 Pavilion on 64 bytes) and it runs very nice. Nevertheless HP does not provide drivers for my product so I had to strugle to get them (audio card, modem, SD reader). I found them on a nice 64Xdeivers site. The PC is running smooth with 1 GB Ram. I had to disable a lot of Tasks form Task managar which are useless to make it work better. Sometimes I find that it is complex to do small tasks (change IP address, give access to folders, etc). By that I mean you have to get used to it (unlike XP).

Better than XP
Comment:
Even though it's more of the second Service Pack for Vista, Windows 7 is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessors. If you're smart and hook up your computer with a decent processor (2.6Ghz or better, dual-core recommended, but I think it could run on a single) and 1GB or more RAM, W7 will run like the wind. Certainly better than Vista, and even more responsive than XP. And this coming from someone who adored Windows XP until recently! Have had some compatibility issues, though, but nothing that couldn't be (and haven't been) worked around.

Win 7 - What other options do we have???
Comment:
Got a bare-bones computer had to get an OS, so I went with Win 7. The only problem was I bought an OEM version and since I am not an OEM I had to pay Microsoft for support. they did offer to replace the OEM version with a retail version. I did not expect to need support from MS. I wish they explained OEM software better. Now I know.

Suckered in by best ever
Comment:
It was touted as the best windows system. It's not as stable as X-P. If you want support, don't buy this version. It is O.E.M. and NOT supported. It will freeze at least 3 times a day. You will see a blue screen. These are things I haven't experienced since Windows 98. Just because your old printer has drivers for this, doesn't mean it will work on this system. I was suckered. Don't let that happen to you.

Huge Improvement
Comment:
Windows 7 is a huge improvement over Vista and even XP. I've been running RC1 for a while so there wasn't much of a learning curve. If this is your first time using 7, take the time to get comfortable with the new features (especially the new taskbar). It is worth it once you get it all figured out. For those updating from one of the betas, note that although you have to do a clean install, windows will save all your old files in a folder called windows.old. This is helpful because you can then cut and paste all your old media files etc. from there and then delete the windows.old file after you have been using the new version for a while.

Nice OS
Comment:
Loaded into my new computer with no problems. Everything loaded without any additional drivers. My HP multimedia keyboard's was the only holdout. The special keys don't work and HP has no Win7 drivers for it yet. Going from XP to this is going to take a lot more learning. Let the journey begin!

Win for Windows
Comment:
Great Product. If you have 4gigs or more of RAM and only one pc that needs an OS, you MUST buy this. If not, find a version of Windows 7 that works for you. Research OEM vs Retail to see which is best for you, and 32bit vs 64bit to see which your computer will run, then buy your copy from here today!

Well done OS
Comment:
This has been the easiest Microsoft OS I have ever installed. WOW was it quick from a full install point of view and absolutely ZERO problems detecting hardware. The Aero interface is cool and actually pretty easy to jump into although I do wish you could more easily customize the Start Menu but other than that I am all kinds of digging it.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack
Cons:Windows explorer could use some enhancements, the "superbar" isn't all that "super"

Pros:Fast, easy to use, great features, compatibility
Comment:
After five years I decided it's time to let go of my old XP Home laptop and upgrade to a desktop with Windows 7. I have to admit that after using Windows 7 for a week, I don't miss XP at all. Windows 7 has a tonne of new features, is more customizable, has great compatibility (from what I've seen anyway), and overall, just feels a heck of a lot more secure than XP. I recently formatted my old XP laptop and had to let it download Windows Updates for two hours--it's time for some enhanced security. Ignore those ridiculous Mac commercial and try it out for yourself.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack
Cons:Requires a lot of RAM for 64bit. RAM is expensive nowadays.

Pros:Fast bootup and shutdown. Intuitive and attractive interface.Relatively cheap for the latest version of windows
Comment:
A great operating system. This package is perfect for system builders. Nevermind that you're not supposed to use this package for personal use(according to system builder license). Not like MS is going to track you down for it.

Happy so far
Comment:
Just installed last night, but so far seems to be fast and smooth. Has many nice features. Was the quickest and easiest install I have ever done and I've been installing Windows since the 98 edition. The only driver I had to install after the updates was the one for my card reader.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack
Cons:-Still wish it could boot in like 10 seconds lol but I'm sure that won't happen for a while-Might not runs games quite as fast as XP still but it makes no difference if you have some good up to date hardware

Pros:-Basically Vista on steroids-Compatible with everything I've encountered thus far-Runs with much less memory-Lots of great new features, for ex. the taskbar/quicklaunch is just much better-Stable as can be, haven't had any BSOD's or any other crashing of any sort, and I use my computers (have it on my laptop and desktop now) a LOT (taking computer programming courses)-Wakes from hibernation and sleep mode WAAAAAAYY faster-Boots a tad faster-I liked Vista a lot. This just blows Vista out of the water-It's not a Mac OS. 'Nuff said.
Comment:
I bought this for my desktop, (and got it free for my Dell laptop), and I gotta say, this is definitely the OS I've been waiting for from Microsoft. It's stable, it's fast, it's takes up less resources, THEY FIXED THE DEFRAGMENTER RETARDEDNESS, taskbar/windows aero is much improved, wakes up from sleep and hibernation waay faster, and even somehow gets my battery on my laptop to last up to 5.5hrs now instead of the max of 4hrs before, which is very nice. I love it. Compared to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, in my opinion Win 7 annihilates it. But that just may be a completely biased opinion. So why don't you go ahead and buy this and try it out for yourself, so you can get your own similar biased opinion about how much better Windows 7 is.

Cons:Some mild weirdness

Pros:64-bit goodnessNew task bar
Comment:
So far so good with Win7. More responsive than Vista and no compatibility issues so far with my older peripherals.A weird folder naming problem occurred when I changed the path to my documents on my D drive. Now it shows two Pictures folders, but one is actually Documents. Weird, but no big deal.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack
Cons:Some hardware won't work, new drivers required or not available.

Pros:Fast with i7 920
Comment:
If you are building a new system with the latest hardware you should be ok, but mind you will have to find drivers and experiment to see which will work, alternatively one can use the right click on the program and try to see if it works in compatibility mode. Overall this is a nice OS coming from XP Pro, bought this with a pc build for 89.99,rather than cracking.

Comment:
I have installed this version on my asus notbook K50 it stays working great for a month. Then you get the no OS screen and have to start from scratch. even with a complete back up on an external HDD. Iwiped my system from vista and may go back to XP
