I am so tired of all the people reviewing windows and saying they have problems! ''Ken'' says it was slow on his 1GB machine! 1GB is so inadequate on this generation's systems. I recommend having a dual core processor and 3GB of RAM although 4GB would be perfect. You also need a video card that was made in this decade. I think Microsoft sucks personally and they should make backward compatible OS's but that's my opinion and I am leaving it out of my rating for Vista just like everyone else should.

bought a toshiba laptop in june of 2007 a few months ago i decided to replace the hard drive and 2 gigs memory and install xp pro, running xp was slower and couldn't get all my driversn only thing is when i loaded my antivirus vista slows way down

Quite frankly, Windows Vista SUCKS! If you have older software you'd like to reinstall to use, such as basic kids software--forget it. Only ''new'' versions (ie: you have to BUY it) work with this operating system. Microsoft and computer manufacturers have really done a disservice to customers by selling and installing this crap on new computers. It makes your computer seem like a 486 with all the crap running in the background which takes hours to disable! Don't buy this software!

My experience is similar to the first reviewer on this page. A terrible operating system. Extremely slow on my 2.6 ghz cpu, 1 gig ram machine. I disabled as many features as possible and it is still soooooo slow. I feel like I'm on a old 286 machine. It will update itself and restart without warning so you lose what you are working on (like this morning when I was typing an email). It goes into power save mode and crashes. It crashes when I play a DVD. I'm going back to XP, what a waste of time and money.

I'm wishing I never purchased this OS. Takes for ever to start and it seems to crash constantly, Compatibility problems with some games, I'm switching back back to Windows XP I'm sick of Vista. If your looking for a good solid, reliable and fast OS buy Windows XP its so much better. Windows Vista is like Windows ME all over again!!

I got this in late feb. and have had no problems with it so far.I'd recomend it to anyone.
