Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 2000 USB 2.0
Cons:escape and function keys are short and small, no indicator lights for caps lock, scroll lock, num lock, keyboard is a little noisy when typing
Pros:super easy to set up, compact, good key travel, standard layout (condensed), plenty of special keys Comment:
I purchased this keyboard to replace a microsoft comfort curve 2000 wired keyboard.Basic set up is: plug in the receiver, insert the batteries and go.I use it with two pcs on a KVM switch: Windows 7 and Windows Media Center 2005(XP)I am not a touch typer per se but I like the feel of the keyboard. It's low profile (not quite as low as a laptop keyboard) but it has a good feel and the kes have a decent travel so you're not wondering if you pressed it or not.I like the condensed layout because it's very close to a standard layout and it takes up a lot less space on the desktop or keyboard tray.Tips:If you buy this keyboard to use with Windows, do yourself two favours: 1. Download the Microsoft Intellitype software! by default, it will display on screen when you toggle Caps lock, Scroll Lock or num lock. Very helpful considering there are no indicator lights on the keyboard other than low battery. Also the software lets you configure all of the special keys to do whatever you want, either shortcuts or macros. 2. Set up audio feedback for the "lock" keys! In Control Panel Windows 7: Ease of Access Center->Make the keyboard easier to use->Turn On Toggle Keys (on the keyboard tab)Use Toggle Keys |
