Cons:Definately wasn't fully tested before this model was put on the market. Advertising and specs claim it supports all drives. Well guess what, due to a bad physical design flaw the curved angled end completely blocks off 4pin molex power socket on 5.25" IDE PATA optical drives. I am very upset at their misleading claims with this detail, $70 regular price seems much too steep for an adaptor like this.
Pros:Supports PATA up to SATAII drives of 2.5" 3.5" and 5.25", manage to price match it down to an impressive $35. Includes software for boosting USB performance called USB 3.0 Turbo. Other software utilities for backup, power saving controls, auto format, SMART ATA drive details. |

Cons:Parts made of plastic so long term durability is questionable.
Pros:No issues with my old IDE and SATA drives. Turn old HDD into external hard drives and great for back-up. Comment:
Great product for transfering data from my old IDE and SATA I drives. I have tranferred data over USB 2.0 and cannot wait to see increased data transfers over USB 3.0. Convert your old internal drives into external drives with wide compatibility of hard drives. Deducted 1 star due to questionable long term durabiltiy. |
I have only used the basics of this adaptor so far. Plug to a drive and read/write data. I have not had a chance to install the software and test out the USB Turbo driver performance. I'm skeptical if it's just to enable drive & adapter caching performance boost. I'm skeptical about recommending this product to others because while the features they offer are unique and could prove very beneficial, this adaptor is completely unuseable with 5.25" IDE PATA optical drives. The lack of mentioning this in any of the specs is exceedingly misleading especially when customers are expected to pay $70 for this device.
