Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 120GB 2.5IN SATA3 Sandforce SF-2281 SSD Solid State Disk Flash Drive
Cons:Connectors feel flimsy, adapter is only half size
Pros:Discrete design, well packaged, 3.5" to 2.5" drive adapter included Comment:
I was impressed with the packaging of this drive, which despite not having any moving parts was packed better than most standard hard drives. They also included an adaptor so you can fit this into a 'standard' drive bay.The problem? Well if you have a case that uses a 'rail' system, the adaptor will be too short. This adaptor is basically meant to allow a person to install the drive in a floppy bay. While it will also work in a standard hard drive bay, it will only work if you have long slots along the side where you can screw it in. If you have rails it's likely the adapter won't fit since it is too short. This wasn't a big deal, and I didn't deduct a point for it. I considered the adapter a bonus. However, if you are installing on to rails, you may be wise to order an adapter. (I like the Silverstone one personally)I did deduct a point for how the controller board was designed. When I plugged in the cords it felt like the board was bending, and I was worried that even a little too much pressure would cause the connector to snap. I'd suggest using extra caution when connecting the drive. Nothing broke when I installed it, but it just had some 'give' to it that I didn't like. It's not like a regular hard drive where you usually feel a connection is 'solid'. I deducted a point for this, since this could easily lead to a snapped connector if a person isn't careful.Performance is good though, and I haven't had any problems with the drive otherwise. Just be careful during the install. |
Plug it in no problem, mobo and windows recongnized it right onmine ain't come in the super packaging, ask why, and it's the deluxe one...installing a fresh copy of windows on it A1when i try to dump my backup from my old system onto it (windows and afew soft + few special setting and utilities) the windows repair disk just don't want to install on it. so will nedd to reinstall all games and softbut it work just like hell on my crosshaire 4 and 1090t cpu
