NORCO RPC-270 Black 2U Rackmount Server Case
Cons:-Only 2 ethernet LEDs-To get 8 hard drives in you have to use the 3.5" Floppy cage and 5.25" Drive cage with an adapter-Internal cable holes aren't rolled over completely, causing light abrasion to my braided cables
Pros:-Inexpensive-Edges aren't sharp-Takes an ATX power supply (or 2U with backplate adapter)-Pre-filled mounts for SSI EEB (12" x 13" boards) |
Worked with this case on a 2U build, a little difficult to get my PSU in, but that's my own fault for getting an oversized PSU (and a modular one at that).Mounting hard drives was easy, one screw secures each cage to the case, and is held in place by a slide-locking clip on the bottom of the cage. When mounting hard drives there isn't truly space for 8 drives, if you want to mount a full 8 you have to use the floppy drive slot and a 5.25" adapter in the cd drive tray. I don't use either of these since I run everything off USB for installs but it might annoy some people.Be careful when routing cables, the edges aren't completely rolled so they sometimes will catch a bit, but it isn't severe enough to do any real damage, just scuffs the cables a bit.The only other issue I had was with the front panel, the tray covers for the floppy and cd drive aren't mounted very securely so they can move around a bit vertically. Also there's only 2 activity LEDs for network activity, I have 3 controllers onboard with activity available.
