Great Product
Comment:
I decided on this NAS after a lot of research and price comparison of similar products. I am using it primarily to store image backups of my PC's and to share photos with family and friends. I was surprised how well built it is. I had no trouble at all setting it up. So far it has been performing well. My unit is very quiet although I have read other reviews elsewhere that said the fan was noisy. The only issue I have is that I can not seem to set it up properly to send an email alert to any email address when a internal problem is encountered (there has been none to my knowledge). I have tried some of the solutions I found in Netgear's User Forum but I am still unable to solve this. The Netgear Photoshare feature works well. I did test this feature and it works as claimed. Your family and friends can see any photo album you choose to authorize. They, however, can not upload any photos or files to the NAS. It works in one direction only through Netgear's website. |

I really like it, but the included software...

I can't get it to run properly. Everything seems to be top-notch, except for the included backup software. |

Netgear 1TB ReadyNAS Duo Network Hard Drive
Pros:Low noise, keeps drives cool, works great on network
Comment:
Had this for a few months now. I added a second 1TB drive for mirror. Everything works great. I can edit video files directly from the drive via my TB network.Works great with PS3 and can stream HD movies on a closed network. |

Second one I've owned
Comment:
Both have been great NAS's. I would buy an NAS from Netgear again. |

Netgear 1TB ReadyNAS Duo Network Hard Drive
Cons:fan and drive a bit noisy
Pros:RAID capability, GB lan, quality look and feel, easy drive swap, boots quickly Comment:
I'm very happy with it overall. Finally a fully configurable, fast, compact media backup solution that I feel I can trust. I plugged it in and just started using it right away. The fan is a bit noisy in particular for the minute it boots but then it winds down to an idle. And of course you do hear drive activity but that's reasonable to expect.I had studied the product category and decided on this one since the X-raid feature by Infrant is a true innovation. After reviewing similar devices I decided this one based on its price and system features. Setup was a breeze, it was configured and online in a matter of minutes. I've had it now for about 1 month and haven't had any problems at all. I would recommend this product to anyone.
