Several quirks mar otherwise good performance
Comment:
I used this unit to replace an old, failed other brand unit. When working, it works well- the switch is fast, and the wireless link is reliable, and the address translation works well. However, there are several persistent problems. - The DCHP server tends to go non-responsive at unpredictable times, leaving any DHCP-connected hosts without connectivity the next time they try to do a lease renewal. Numerous reports of this problem in the forums suggest it is not uncommon, and the support responses are still largely questions and suggestions on what the owners have done wrong. Fortunately the documentation is wrong when it says that hosts MUST use DHCP; configuring fixed IP addresses for everyone made the problem low-impact. - The web interface freezes every few days, requiring a reboot. |

Poor Product - Netgear will not support Properly.
Comment:
I purchased this product less than 6 months ago. I have had nothing but problems with it, after hours of techsupport with Netgear it finally up and died after following Netgears techs instructions. NetGear then wants to place it into RMA and insist you send it back to Netgear, and upon recipet they have 12 Business days to ship me a new one. This is suppossed to be a Business class router? What Business can be without a router for 12 Business day? This is an Expensive Fancy Boat Anchor, Purchase it at your own Peril. If all your going to do is plug it in and never adjust any settings in the unit it will work fine. If your looking for a real Router thats configuarable find something else. |

this is a fine product

I use this product for its wired network capability primarily and turn on the wireless for guests on the network only. Everything works as advertised and would recommend it for any small business or home. |

Great Product, Amazing Value

I replaced a 4 port router and a switch with the Netgear ProSafe for an office running a server with 3 client computers, 2 network printers, and 3 shared printers. The ProSafe had more feature than I expected (and know how to use), which is great! It has worked flawlessly and helped eliminate network "hiccups." Installation was simple, once I set the router with the correct DNS, subnet, and gateway all the networked devices connected without the need for any configuration. |

I have had this unit for 3 months. Installation was simple. It is hooked up to a Hughesnet HN7000S. The unit is actually at my parents house about 400 feet away and it is connected to an outdoor dipole antenna from netgear. signal strength is in the 90's.I have not had any problems with this product so far. |

Had this unit for a year. Worked well and all the software options worked well. The VPN I did not use. When I attempted a firmware upgrade the unit hung during the upload and rendered the unit completely unusable. I emailed support but after a few days realized it was hopeless. When I told them I was going to throw it away and buy another brand they reminded me it had a lifetime warranty and swapped it for free. All in English too! I guess they ain't so bad after all. |

Buyers beware. The setup was a bit of a pain but that wasn't the worst part. The security settings don't work! I set the router to only accept connections from a list of MAC addresses like I've set up my cheap D-Link and it didn't work. So I had to send the item back. |

The product does NOT do what it advertises. When I first got mine, several of the features did not work(and still do not). The router locks up about once a day and the only way to get it back online is to perform a hard reset by pulling the power cable. Netgear's support is horrid. If you can get past the language barrier, they only look for green lights on the front. If you have a software issue(which most seem to be) then you are out of luck getting help. Netgear also takes for ever to release firmware updates to fix the products. Netgear, how about fully testing the product BEFORE releasing the buggy thing to the public. I will NEVER buy Netgear again and advise you not to either, spend your money elsewhere. By the way, for those of you who purchase these products and dont even know what half of the features are on it, do not post here saying how much you love it. Try really using and pushing the product to do what it says it will do first, then post. |

I purchase this router and I am very please with it. I have 6 gameconsoles hooked up to it and 4 desktops and 2 laptops for my home/business usuage. It was very easy to set up and have no issues with home networking, Xbox-Live and the Sony Playstataion Network. I also have a network repeater and it sync with it without any issue. A great value and feature if you need a router that ''does it all'' and this one does...a 5 out of 5! |
I can't go nearly as far with this router.
