Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:- None so far after 4 months
Pros:- Never had an issue yet after 4 months.- Never had to power cycle.- Always fast- Lifetime warranty Comment:
Very good product. I use this to connect from another GBit switch (the 8 port version of it) to a TV, PS3, home theatre system, and a TV receiver that is always sending data. Never any performance issues on the other devices even when the one port is always receiving HD TV content. |

I haven't had a single issue. This switch cannot be killed. Believe me my network is constantly under heavy loads but this tiny lil switch refuses to stop functioning. VERY good product. |

None that I can think of

This is a good deal. The switch worked immediately and without any issues. Not a big fan of rebates but WTF, might as well take advantage of the killer deal. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch

Pros:Great price and build quality Comment:
Well, it doesn't get any better for the price I guess. Well built, works as expected. I use is as a secondary switch on the other side of Moca line. Would buy again! |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:doesn't fly you to the moon
Pros:Small size, metal enclosure, Jumbo packets Comment:
Good little switch for home or SOHO applications. Using this connected to a DIR-655 router and it works great. I have two computers and a network laser printer all going through this and have had no problems. Just as good as the 8 port version. The picture in the description is the older version, this one is only as wide as the 5 ports. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:None really, I would buy it again.
Pros:It works as described. Comment:
This thing works exactly as described. I prefer metal case switches so that when they fall off your computer or get whacked they are fine. I bought this for doing overnight backups to my second computer. The 1gb transfer makes backing up movies a breeze. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:None so far
Pros:FastSturdyCool (temp wise)ReliableNetgear Comment:
Got this to upgrade a network to GB and it works like a charm. Tripled the transfer speeds on the network. Netgear is a good brand too, better than getting a cheap consumer brand switch. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:Heats up fast, Both the RJ-45 ports and speed determining lights are on the front of the unit. A better setup would be ports in the rear with speed lights in the front.
Pros:Easy to install, high quality construction, small footprint, supports jumbo frames, works like a charm! Comment:
This little unit works great. It supports jumbo frames so if your gigabit adapters also support this, you will see a significant improvement on read and write speeds over the network, particularly for larger file transfers. As others have mentioned, the units are Version 2's meaning the unit is only as wide as the 5xRJ-45 ports. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:none
Pros:small size, sturdy Comment:
Bought this to upgrade my LAN to gigabit and so far it has been working well. The casing of the switch is made of metal, not plastic; quite sturdy. Very small footprint and non-intrusive. Had no problems connecting 2 PCs, a Mac and a router |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:non found so far
Pros:well built, compact Comment:
This works great. I like the solid build of this switch - I feel like I could drop it and the floor would be dammaged, not the switch. It is very compact (picture not good on website), which is also good for me, but the LEDs layout may not please everyone (integrated with the connectors) |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:No free network cable included (remember to buy one)
Pros:Inexpensive, rock solid, worked instantly Comment:
I had two gigabit network cards linked with a crossover cable between my two work computers, but to simplify network configuration I bought this switch. I hooked 2 windows boxes and a linux PC to this little switch and everything connected perfectly. I did not even have to reconfigure the router settings... but fortunately I had an extra cable to connect this switch to the router. (some people don't have spare parts)Anyway, I was really surprised that the case of this little switch is metal, and it's really heavy and sturdy. I was able to remotely connect to my other computers with ultraVNC and even had Windows XP running on VMWare player on the Linux box by evening. The switch says it will do 2 gigabit speed with full duplexing. Whatever the case may be, the switch handled the data as fast after installation, as I was getting with two full duplex network cards hooked together with a crossover cable. It's fast enough for my needs. So far so good. The box gets a bit warm, but this is normal. For what it's worth, routers seem to work better if they are well ventillated. I use a simple desk fan to mass cool a mishmash of hardware. All things considered, this was the easiest purchase/installation in memory. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:none, really.
Pros:small. Tiny. Quiet. Comment:
No complaints about this. Works exactly like a switch should, and gives good transfer rates. No setup issues and, unlike some older switches, I don't lose one of the ports because it's beside the uplink port. |

Netgear GS105 Prosafe 5 Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Slimline Network Switch
Cons:"Mounting bracket" consist of 2 screws in a wall.
Pros:SmallPerformancePower block very small Comment:
Received this product about 1 week ago. The power block is the same format used by most recent cellular telephones. It occupies only 1 section of a power bar.The device is as wide as 5 Ethernet ports not like the pictures available. Performance is as good as any other Gigabit network I have used in the past. Most performance problems come from the cheap NICs used in conjunction with this switch. This review was modfied by poster @ 08-15-07 08:18 AM |
If you are concerned about quality and reliability like I am and only need a few ports I'd place my money here. I've had decent success with other brands at lower cost however I've never had any as slim, metal and non glaring LED as these Netgear series are.I'm using 2 of these and the 16 port version in an office with multiple users and machines networked and they're taking a beating daily and nightly.
