This is a best notch cooler. As others have noted, the excellent of the materials show attention to all the right facts. Even the packaging. Installation is extremely straight-forward and easy. And therefore far efficiency is excellent: operating my trusty Prime95 on my E6870 (I know, 'ancient' cpu), stock speed. Temp on each cores doesn't rise above 41. Ambient is 22. Totally none. If you measure your case for fit, you are fantastic to go. Get this one particular. One particular of the extremely very best coolers out there. And I love Noctua fans. Sooo quiet, but move so considerably air. Couldn't happier with my purchase and fast shipping from the Egg. |

Instructions are easy to follow.Producers internet site offers substantial data on specifications, motherboard compatibility and PDF instruction downloads, which assisted me make an informed choice about motherboard compatibility. The cpu cooler is solidly built...the fan is super quiet even at the full rated speed of 1200 RPM.The supplied Thermal grease operates fantastic...I followed the instructions for application and in a couple of days, the cpu temp has dropped 10C at idle..I have an Intel i7 920 mhz) overclocked to 4170 MHZ on an EVGA 760 X58 SLI Classified board. None to date. I had to locate a CPU heatsink which was not really tall due to the fact I have this case: ABS Diablo ADV Black Finish + Titanium bezel Steel ATX Complete Tower Computer CaseThis situation has a 360 CM fan attached to the interior of the side door..It extends a good inch and a half into the interior of the situation so a tall heatsink would not work.Noctua internet site assisted me make an informed choice with their motherboard compatibility list...They showed my motherboard, EVGA X58 SLI Classified as possibly having a fit challenge, while they did not detail the precise dilemma..I took a chance and the heatsink did fit though the curved heatpipes were really close to the standing Northbridge heatsink, which comes with the board. |

Great heatsink. Have been using it for more than two years. At first I wasn't getting the results I was hoping for, but then I found out my MB upped the voltage on my phenom ii 965 BE and my case had garbage airflow. Replaced the case and lowered the voltage to 1.375. Temps are low. |

I will not repeat all of the fantastic stuff written previously. IT'S ALL Accurate! This unit is amazingly well built and was an uncomplicated set up.This unit mounts rock solid. The cooling is superior and it does blow lots of air down onto the motherboard to assist cool all sorts of factors which normally don't get much focus. If you mount it 180 degrees from how I installed it, you won't will need a memory cooler (I kept the memory cooler.)I cannot realize how people have had trouble with the fan mounting wires. You attach them to the fans Initially and slide them down and they click in location. Possibly persons were attempting to do it the other way? I dunno but it was WAY Effortless for me.The issue just feels well built. They utilised metal components where everybody else has gone with plastic. Exceptional documentation. Fantastic packaging. The stinkin case badge is even high class!I will be using a single of Noctua's items on all of my builds from now on. I can\'t feel of a single 1. This unit was so nicely built it was truly entertaining to install. Why do persons complain about the color of the fan? It's their signature color and now that I know about the efficiency of these fans, I will consider the color to be a sign of a builder who knows what he"s carrying out.If you are contemplating a Noctua item, just get it. Something else will be second finest. I am ordering a different 1 of these to replace a competitor's product that in no way did mount appropriate on my Gigabyte GA EP45 UD3P socket 775 MB. This brilliant unit from Noctua confident will. |

I have employed various unique kinds and brand of heatsinks. Noctua hands down blows away the competitors. Yes the fans are gaudy, in all probability not the flashy gamer design some tech heads are looking for but.. the cooling that this thing delivers is amaing. 1. DO NOT use artic silver or any other compound other than the Noctua thermal paste.two. When installing: just use a hershey shaped drop 4mm in size.three. DO NOT spread the thermal paste!! just center the drop and let the cooler spread when setting the cooler on the socket.....Trust me it works!! Those of you acquiring the greater temps are since you are not applying the correct paste the appropriate way!!four. if you do not like the fan you can switch but you are NOT gonna locate a fan that runs whisper quiet and pushes that considerably air 5. Quit your griping, if you cannot instal correctly buy a dell! if you don't acquire noctua! |

Simple two step installation procedure, fantastic (but not extreme) cooling efficiency. Huge fan can go quite quiet on ultra low noise setting. I am not a enormous fan of attaching fans with clips but it functions fine, offered that you install the fan on the cooler before you drop it on the mobo (or install the entire factor outside). Otherwise, you'll want some finger acrobatics but it's nevertheless manageable. Overall pretty fantastic product. It comes with a 3 pin fan (no PWM) and you want to adjust "adapters" to tune it to one particular of three speed settings. The adapters are nothing at all but flimsy cables with in line resistors. With that, you can either tune for lower noise or greater performance but no middle ground. A 120mm PWM Scythe fan would fair out much much better (yeah I ended up carrying out just that, couple of cable ties to secure it in spot and that was that). This is cooling a core i7 extreme edition @ three.2GHz for the moment. I effortlessly tweaked it higher to three.6GHz but ended up pushing the CPU over 75C w/ the ultra low noise fan setting (see the con above). Given that quiet operation is far more significant for me, I assume I'll leave it as is for the moment. |

Easy to install like all Noctua Coolers. Outstanding CPU cooling, quiet, and has quality feel to all components.Installed it on my Media Center Pc AMD PII 550 keeps this unit ㅒ-32c ᥌-78F amb at idle and not considerably increase on load. No o/c or unlocked cores, so a bit of overkill in this useage, but it does give me space to play with this CPU limits more than time.Installed in a Lian-Li Computer-7FN case. The Cooler fits fine but if your m/b power socket is on the top rated edge of the board like mine, you either set up the cooler soon after you install the board (right :)), obtain an extension and set up extension prior to installing the m/b, or eliminate the leading of the case. Lucklly the Computer-7FN has a removeable top rated. Nit-choosing right here. Package no longer consists of a screwdriver. Not an issue with this cooler due to the fact of its style vs Noctua tower coolers. The unit is Enormous, quickly the size of a PSU cube but has a lot of clearance below the cooling/fan section. No problem clearing any of my m/b components which includes RAM w/cooling fins. Not sure about clearing Corsair Dominator units but no concern with the GSkill(?) comb heat spreader.I usually use tower coolers from Noctua 92-120mm units. All have peformed flawlessly.I decided to give the down-draft version a attempt simply because I am employing the integrated ATI 4200 video on this mATX board and wanted a bit additional cooling on the m/b chips. So far appears to be a great choice. |

Size, overhangs the ram, but has a decent quantity of space even amongst the ram heatsink fans and the bottom of the radiator, I like how the cooler is able to be mounted 3 distinct methods. cpu below load so far is hovering around 35.five*C, arctic silver 5 hasn't cured yet, so readings are superficial so far fan is only 3 pin, but this is clearly stated in specs., so I knew this going into it (no deduction), fan is also rather awkwardly colored(but again knew it going into it, fan works excellent so far, no deduction).Only thing i can believe of is if I ever want to modify the fan, it's an awkward size/mounting system, but so far so very good on cooling.Folks claiming the instructions are poor... there are images and written instructions, the mount took me all of 3 minutes, takes less than screwing the mobo down. have a incredibly brief thing beneath to possibly 'help' the "high" tech expertise folks who can't stick to instructions with pictures. Now the concern with the Pavilion's is that the case is highly engineered to fit as a lot of points inside with no leaving any space. There are also limited choices for replacement boards. Running an Asus P7P55-M uATX or any other uATX board locations the components extremely close together. I could only mount the Noctua cooler with the heatpipes parallel to the floor. There is plenty of room when mounted for RAM modules that only have heat spreaders. When installed the resister connector interferes with the on board CPU fan monitoring, so rather I had to use the in BIOS CPU fan scaling. Everything up and operating I was in a position to go from 3.two Ghz (Intel Core i7-860 w/stock Intel cooler) @ 90°+C to 3.5 Ghz @ 62°C with out even giving the Artic Silver 5 the requisite set time. There are some coolers comparable in size that have additional fins closely spaced together. Those could give even lower temps, but not many as excellent as the Noctua. |

I like this cooler a lot. You can tell from the minute you open the box that a lot of top quality thought and craftsmanship went into this product. I love the fan, and have already ordered and installed other people for my case. The shape of the cooler will allow you to fit it in virtually any case along with a side case fan. Don't be fooled though, its still a rather large heatsink, and will nearly assuredly cover some of your RAM slots, so strategy accordingly. I'm able to fit two tall (mushkin ridgeback) sticks in, but if I ever want to fill the other two slots, I will have to figure some thing else out. I knocked off an egg, simply because at this cost, there truly are some much better coolers to go with. Not that there is any high quality lacking with this product, but the tower designs are just more efficient. I wish that I had devote just a few much more dollars and gone with an NH-12UP with the push/pull fans, or other similarly priced tower coolers. Its a good cooler, but if you can fit a tower style cooler, go with that. Though I'm not rushing out to replace it, I would only buy this once more if I had a case that couldn't fit the much more prevalent tower coolers.AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition (C3)Noctua NH-C12P SE14ASUS Crosshair III FormulaXFX 5850 Black EditionASUS Xonar D2XCorsair HX750WSamsung F3 1TBCoolermaster CM690 II Advanced |

-Not particularly complicated to install (provided you do it ahead of you put the board in case, as the backplate wants to be installed to support the massive factor)-Superb cooling. I am running an intel 920 (unoverclocked for the moment), and it is idling at room temperature ླ-23°), and 30° with full load-Exceptionally quiet, even without having the resist plugs. -Backplate needs removing mobo-Major. It fit in my case just fine, but I could see it getting trouble fitting in with a particuarly significant chipset heatsink Exceptional fan, will present cooling that will match even the much more elaborate water cooling systems. |

Freaking fantastically efficient cooler. With a Core 2 Duo, immediately after 12 hours at idle, CPU temp had settled at 41c. Following two full hours at 100% CPU load employing Tension with 8 threads, the temperature elevated to 42c. 'nuff mentioned. It's quiet, the contact surface is polished, it comes with all the bits and they are very good. The cooler on the ZOTAC GF9300-A-E fits in only one orientation, which is fine, but the fan is large in diameter so it hits the power supply. The contact pressure against the power supply doesn't really exert sufficient force to dislodge it from creating very good contact with the CPU. I've not been able to come up with a work about short of zip tying the fan off center so I'm going to leave it in contact with the power supply. This Zotac board places the CPU quite close to the power supply so your mileage might vary with an additional mobo. I'd give it 5 stars if it cleared the power supply, it's definitely a beautiful piece of musclecar sexy engineering that's insanely successful. |

Uncomplicated mounting resolution for AM3, massive fan that's silent as a ninja... Really manages to perform worse than the stock cooler. Following permitting a couple of days and numerous thermal cycles for the Arctic Silver to cure, the temps still have not changed: Idle: 30*C / 86*FLoad: 60*C / 140*FThis is in a room with an ambient temperature of 75*F. This is a follow-up to "You can do WAY better for the cash..." I've got this thing boxed up and ready for return and the stock AMD fan humming away on my Phenom II 965 BE. I've got every thing set to stock, just as with the NH-C12P SE14, running 4 threads of Prime95. Load temp is steady at 56.5*C / 133.7*F. Idle is at 26*C / 78.8*F. Yes, that's with the fan preparing for takeoff at 5400rpm, but as alluded to in my initial assessment, for ๘, I expect far more than a quiet fan. The craziest part is that I seem to be the only 1 getting trouble with this cooler and giving a negative assessment. I will grant that I could have gotten a defective unit, but every thing external looks fine to me. Perhaps some bad heatpipes? Poor joining on the heatpipe/contact surface interface? Who knows? 1 factor is for certain although: I'm not giving Noctua any far more of my money when I can just get far better top quality performance at a much better price. |

This fan is so quiet I cannot even tell it is running when I turn on my computer. And it cools the CPU better than the stock coolers do.It is large, so people with small cases might have trouble getting it to fit. You have to set the speed of the fan manually but this isn't a real issue as it is so quiet you don't need to lower the speed for noise reasons.
