Compared to the stock AMD Phenom II 1090T heatsink, this point is quieter on maximum fan speed vs the stock cooler on "Quiet" profile on my Asus' motherboard's fan setting. Only with the fan on deafening max speed with the stock cooler was it able to hold the system around 56-58C with Linx or Intel Burn Test on stock technique settings, the NH-C14 keeps it ӲC degrees cooler and considerably quieter with the low noise adaptors installed (roughly 900RPM). The design and style helps cools surrounding motherboard elements and the footprint and height are additional manageable than the NH-D14 with less difficult to install fan setup (softer tension spring clips that seems to operate superior on other fans). On AMD setups, the mounting brackets do not will need access to the back of the motherboard if it currently comes with a supporting plate on it, it is also less difficult to mount the heatsink compared to the stock clip mounting setup. After finding used to the cooling performance of Noctua's flagship NH-D14, this is a bit of a letdown though not unexpected thinking of it has one much less cooling tower (but larger fin density). Doesn't have almost the same cooling potential as it's major brother, which cools my Intel i7 950 OC'ed to 4.2GHz at ㆁC below Linx/IBT load with dual Scythe Kaze Maru two fans running at 1000rpm on a fan controller (the Scythe pair cools much better and is quieter than the stock fans from my testing). NH-C14 failed to avert thermal shutdown with the same fans running at 1200rpm! I expected a bit better functionality thinking of it's nearly the exact same cost. Due to the fan aiming at the board orientation, it appears top rated case fans are additional helpful than rear ones. Boards utilized are the Asus Crosshair III Formula for AMD setup and the MSI XPower Huge Bang for the Intel setup. Was as well lazy to tone down the Intel setup to see what the temp delta is in between the two coolers at similar heat loads, I may possibly attempt the NH-D14 on the AMD setup to see how much far better that does compared to it though.

Cools beautifullyQuietFits (Barely) Mounting (Mostly just a case certain problem) Certainly appreciate this heatsink. I have it mounted on a Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD7 although I develop up my watercooling rig and it fits snugly involving the SilentPipe NB cooler and the wall of the case (Lian-Li V-2100B) with about 3 mm to spare on either side. It entirely overhangs the RAM, keeping it cool in the procedure, even though nevertheless clearing the MOSFET heatsink. It was entertaining finding it mounted due to my case and motherboard combination. Due to the tight tolerances, if I took the top rated fan off to mount the heatsink, there truly wasn't any way to remount it, and the cross bar for the fan frame was right more than the hole that you put the screwdriver by means of to tighten the mounting screws. When I crossed my eyes appropriate and held my tongue at just the suitable angle, I got the drivers seated into the top of the screw and it mounted perfectly.

Over 25 hours of Prime95, by no means saw temperatures above 35C. The CPU stayed at 30-32C for the initial 23 hours and rose to 34 in the 24th, spiked up to 35C, went back down to 34C, and stayed there for rest of the test. The CPU idles at 15-18C.I tested this cooler with the regular thin coat of thermal compound, and again with the optimized line of compound. Do your study, and use a line optimized for your CPU. The coat got 37C at max, and all about higher temperatures. These temps are working with the integrated Noctua compound.Be conscious that this is a downdraft cooler. This indicates you're getting slightly worse cooling for the CPU in exchange for cooling every thing around the CPU socket, and the RAM. If you want the maximum cooling for your CPU, use the D14. The included screwdriver made screwing down one side a discomfort, due to the fact the appropriate angle manage hit the side of the case and wouldn't rotate any additional. No massive deal on most cases, it typically wont be a problem. I was wondering how tight of fit it would be in my mid tower Lian Li case but it left more than enough room on either sides. It performs wonderfully and doesn't produce too much sound. It was easy to install and perfect for mid tower cases.

Top-notch packaging, 2 high quality fans, cools CPU, RAM & MB at the identical time, clear instructions, has a lower profile so it can fit in most circumstances (fit inside CM690 ii adv. with a lot of room to spare), quiet at complete fan speed, simple solution for AM3 installation-mounted it to gigabyte 870a-ud3 without possessing to get rid of MB. Sort of expensive, but you get what you pay for.Not truly a con but an opinion-would be good if the fans had been black, or maybe some LED options. I purchased the NH-C14 to replace the stock cpu heat sink in my new pc. I have no plans on more than-clocking but I wanted a greater cpu cooler for piece of thoughts and to shield my investment-plus if I decide to overclock at some point, I can. I'm a total noob to installing anything in computers, but soon after checking compatibility to my mb at Noctua's internet website, I figured it wouldn't be that tough to install, and I was correct! The instructions were clear and uncomplicated to comprehend. The hardest portion was lining up the 2 spring-loaded screws to the mounting bracket (I was working inside my situation, so it was tricky to see) I ended up possessing to use a modest mirror to line the screwdriver up on one particular side. I've only had this in my case for a handful of days, but it is working perfectly and my cpu (amd phenom two 955 blk three.two ghz) temp has however to reach 40c. I totally suggest this cooler for its develop high quality, performance and ease of installation.

Cons:Tight Fit in midtower case, no 4 pin to 3 pin adapter

Pros:Keeps CPU nice and cool

Even though this was a tight fit in my midtower case it went in without a fight (had to remove my PSU before installing). Did not come with a 4 pin to 3 pin adapter so need to purchase a couple of adapters to reconnect the case fans (small price to pay).

Noctua NH-C14 140mm x 2 SSO CPU Cooler
Cons:The size of the unit makes installation difficult

Pros:Noctua qualityLow noise adaptersMounting screws and rubber grommets in case you only use one of the two included fans Improvements over the NH-C12P SE14
Comment:
I am largely writing my review by comparing this to its little brother, the NH-C12P SE14 which I own. As usual you can expect Noctua quality. Tremendous thoughts are put into details such as 2x low and ultra low noise adapter, 3 pin y connector, as well as pre-mounted fans. Now, compared to the nh-c12p, Noctua has added rubber to the tips of the steel wire which is used to mounth the fans to the heatsink. As a result, this is inteaded to reduce noise. I doubt this will reduce the decibles, but its a nice attention to detail. Now the important part, performance. At full load, the i5-2550k cores (1 through 4 respectively, were measured at MAX 41,44,47,45 degrees and averaged 39,41,45,41 degrees with room temperatures at 22 degrees. The drawbacks are the lack of up to date instructions for 1155 sockets (doesn't change anything, but it may be confusing to less experience people who wonder what the 1156 is...) as well as the installation due to size. Its difficult to make it sit properly on the cpu and properly spread the thermal paste due to the size. However, by removing the top fan during installation, and placing it back afterwords, installation was easier.

Needed a nice low profile fan for my HTPC in a small LIAN LI and this Noctua is just perfect. It clears perfectly when in low profile mode. If you have space in your case go for a D14 or U12P for better cooling instead of this one. Anyway Noctua you cannot go wrong I would buy this again anytime.

As i mentioned, looks extremely beast. Got this processor today, upgrading from a stock cpu cooler on the i5 2500k, the stock cooler gave me 25-30c idle temps, this cooler is giving me the similar thing. i was expecting an upgrade. but i guess not, it dropped my bios temp by 10c, but that doesn't mean substantially, i care about temps even though running windows, not bios. I paid 90$ for a top rated of the line cpu cooler, and ended up wasting 90$ figuring as it didn't change my temps whatsoever. I know thermal paste can take a while to function right, but they claim the thermal paste they give you is remarkable right out of the tube. I'll give it a handful of weeks and wright an additional assessment both fans are operating appropriately, but imean cmon, i was atleast hoping for it to lower my temps just a Small bit, but nope, 90$ for the same as my stock cooler, which is about 1Ǟ the size of this cooler. It's not broken. it nevertheless cools the cpu, but it just wasn't an upgrade is all. So im just a bit upset i paid so a lot. I would not advocate this product sorry to say.

It coolers effectively and it appears to be compatible with a lot of the instances and MB, it is also fairly too. It was very handy that they offer you with a screw driver and thermal compound too! the mounting system is superior too. not truly a con but it blocks my led lights but thats true with all blower type I don't truly hear a differences with the ulna cables almost certainly it was pretty cool either way. My i5 2500k @ 4ghz only runs about 40 @ 100% load and about 30 @ idle whilst i am using low noise adapters. It it kinda straightforward to hit your motherboard while trying to mount this factor w/ the screw driver
