Noctua NH-D15 Dual Tower Heatpipe Cooler w/ 2x NF-A15 140mm Pwn Fans LGA115X/2011 AM2/3+ FM1/2+
Cons:VERY BIG! 165mm so make sure you have room in your case and check the compatibility on their website for your ram and mobo.
Pros:Amazing cooling performance. I upgraded from an arctic rev 2 and it's a night and day difference Comment:
Went from 70s-80s C temps in cpu intensive games to 30s-40s C with this cooler. trying some higher overclocking and its only hitting mid 50s with Aida 64 stress testing my 4690k 4.5ghz at 1.2volts. It is expensive, but it's the best air cooler out there. |

Noctua NH-D15 Dual Tower Heatpipe Cooler w/ 2x NF-A15 140mm Pwn Fans LGA115X/2011 AM2/3+ FM1/2+
Cons:its huge. i have an NZXT Switch 810 full tower, and it JUST fits. (9inch clearance ROUGHLY) hate the looks...
Pros:silent, comes with connectors to use second fan else where if needed, 6-year warranty i think. keeps cpu cool extremely well. Comment:
BEWARE. if your pretty picky about looks, and you have an open window case, its gona make you go crazy looking at this. I g.skill ram ripjaw x or something, which is not a high profile ram, but it still forced me to place the 2nd fan an inch sticking out. meaning, need more room for clearance, and now you have ugly brown fans that also do not look symmetrical. at ALL.Y NO LIQUID COOLERSI needed performance and silence, which is where most people go to liquid cooling, however, I would always buy these Noctua heatsinks over any liquid cooler any day. Similar to the other review here, liquid coolers can randomly die, and the only way you'll know is when your room gets really hot, and your computer randomly shuts down later. Bad for your computer. Especially since i'm a lazy guy who doesn't like to do continuous maintenance. IF YOUR WORRIED ABOUT SOUND READ HEREits silent. very silent. im using the LPM connectors or w/e their called, that reduces the speed of the fans to make it even more quiet... but as said before, i use a NZXT 810 switch with a side window, and it sits beside me, where i can see the Noctua heatsink and 2 fans. I dont hear anything. I only hear my exhaust fan, which is a silent fan (fractal design silent series fan) so, its hard to say, but the CPU heat sink definitely did not make a difference in noise. IMPORTANT NOTES!!!if you have the cash, and the room to fit it, then its a sure buy. I will say this though, SERIOUSLY, have a big roomy case before you think about buying this. Noctua fans might be the easiest to mount to your Mobo, but the fans actually gave me a lot of trouble. I had to take out my GPU just to put the fans on. ALSO, when the heatsink is positioned facing the rear exhaust, (for me atm) it blocked on of my PCI-E x1 slot. or w/e slot it is, (i searched it and wiki said that). so... if you need that slow, u might have to place it vertically? i'm not sure. but just beware, u might even want to get the smaller version of Noctua heat sinks. |

Noctua NH-D15 Dual Tower Heatpipe Cooler w/ 2x NF-A15 140mm Pwn Fans LGA115X/2011 AM2/3+ FM1/2+
Cons:Fan clips are a bit tricky to install
Pros:Everything! The quality of all part (mounting hardware/fans/heatsink)is excellent and evident. Cools incredibly well. Lots of RAM clearance (Corsair vengeance blue RAM will fit no problem) Comment:
I'm very happy with my purchase. Before this I had an Antec 920 closed loop liquid cooler that was top of the line for awhile. However I only got 14 months of use out of it before the pump died. And if a water pump dies and you have an overclock, chances are you will see your CPU temps spike to 105C for an ivy bridge like mine did. I learned the hard way what a MAJOR disadvantage of liquid cooling is, and that is hardware failures. Unless technology changes, I'm sticking with air cooling from here on in.I went with the NH-D15 because I have very tall RAM and wanted a cooler that would give me comparable performance to the Antec 920 I had. It turns out this cooler is WAY better. With a mild 4.3GHz OC on a 3770K my Antec 920 would hit temps 80~90C when stress testing. However, then NH-D15 wont go over 65C. HUGE IMPROVEMENT. Had I known the NH-D15 would be this much better, I might have gone with a smaller air cooler. However, by having this level of cooling power, I can adjust the fans down so low that they are dead silent. A word of caution, make sure you measure your case and components! The heatsink is massive and could block various slots such as PCI slots or RAM bays. One dimension to pay extra attention to is the height of the heatsink. My case had 178mm between the motherboard tray and the removable case panel of my tower. After installation, my removable case panel is actually touching the heatsink. So if you don't have at least 180mm between your MOBO tray and the side panel, this heatsink will likely will not fit! All-in-all, an excellent purchase! I will definitely look to include noctua products in my future computer builds. |

Noctua NH-D15 Dual Tower Heatpipe Cooler w/ 2x NF-A15 140mm Pwn Fans LGA115X/2011 AM2/3+ FM1/2+
Cons:-Size! This thing is MASSSIVE.-Color: The brown wont match all color schemes, but if you don't care about that then it is no problem
Pros:-Excellent Performance-Price is decent and comparable to other AIO coolers-Packaging is TOP NOTCH, very clear labels-Quality is amazing. Not just the product but also included accessories (screwdriver, top quality thermal paste, fan splitters, rubber grommets.) -Fans are SUPER quiet even at max! (1550RPM) Comment:
This is classic Noctua. It is clear that they pay attention to quality as this product, similar to the NH-D14 is of top quality. The performance is amazing whilst quiet, and the packaging is superb. Noctua does pay attention to the "Small" things and I think that clearly shows in the NH-D15. Highly recommended. |
Well to sum it all up this was well worth the price. My last Heatsink/AIO was a H220 and i also loved that but i never did like the fact i had a point of failure if the pump gave out also i wasn't to keen on having liquid in my system. The temps on this NH-D15 are amazing i hammered it with OCCT for 30 mins just to heat it up and see what the temps would be and i was very impressed.so THE NH-D15 averaged about ~54cthe H220 averaged about ~60c
