OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SATA III 2.5" Solid State Drive
Cons:Expensive but you gotta go big sometimes
Pros:Big enough to be actually useful, Nice and fast too Comment:
I wanted to get a SSD but even the 120gb ones seemed small with games like WoW and SWTOR taking up like 20gb each having room to put more then a couple games on it was key to my going for the big drive.Worked out of the box but I did do the update for firmware it was a bit of work you had to read the instructionssince its my boot drive but the instructions were clear and I did it no problems at all.Runs great and room for future games on it without picking which other one to delete first like with a smaller drive. |

OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SATA III 2.5" Solid State Drive
Cons:-expensive-updating firmware can be a pain, you must run all drives in AHCI mode and it can't be running as the main OS drive when updating
Pros:-silent-super fast went from 5.9 hard drive Win7 64bit score to 7.9 out of 7.9-been stable and worked flawlessly-Great load times and odd hard drive game loading stuttering is gone-When I see the windows desktop, it's loaded. Unlike a hard drive when you wait 10 seconds or more before you get smooth operation waiting for the virus scan, video and sound drivers (GUIs) to load. Comment:
OCZ has software for download that makes the update of firmware simple enough with instructions on how to update . This drive like all other SSD drives is silent and it certainly can be very fast depending on the given task.Quality SSD drives are expensive, an MLC drive has shorter flash life than an SLC likely OCZ used older 32nand flash rather than the new smaller that has shorter life and used quality parts. I often hear that it's not the flash that fails but the other components OCZ used a simple rather than a complex approach using server style build (for reliability but at a far lower cost. The biggest down side is you have to either have another drive laying around with windows installed in AHCI mode or a computer running in AHCI mode which HP, Acer don't seem to do at all. So if you want the lastest firmware that improves trim performance and how stable this drive will run be prepared.Running a Windows7 64bit self custom built desktop computer. Fast ram, fast Intel i5 2500k CPU will make this drive shine. Not an upgrade for an old desktop or even less so an old Laptop. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-10-11 10:59 PM |

OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SATA III 2.5" Solid State Drive
Cons:couldn't turn my old laptop into a new laptop
Pros:space, raid0, not a single issue Comment:
I had one of those Gateway P-78xx FX laptops upgraded to 8Gig ram and it was starting to slow me down while developing N-tier and SharePoint in Visual Studio so a few months ago I upgraded the two hard drives to a pair of these max iops. While the initial improvement was amazing there were still times when the iconic Gateway could not keep up. The first line in Crystal Disk (seq) is showing 500+MB read and 400+MB write, no tweaks just plug and play. New laptop may boast those numbers. |

OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SATA III 2.5" Solid State Drive
Cons:storage per $
Pros:super fast. Twice as fast as my OCZ agility 2 Comment:
In my laptop I was running a 120gb OCZ agility 2, but found myself short on space all the time so I splurged on this drive. On top of the extra space it is blazing fast. Everything is even more snappy, nothing ever slows down. |
Great Drive, got on sale $149.99 after $40 MIR.Would totally recommend to anyone looking for a SSD
