OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ700FTY 700W Power Supply
Cons:Problem with Back-Ups
Pros:Powerful, nice looking, not so expensive. Comment:
This is a very good PSU, with a lot of connectors and not noisy. Only one thing to mention is because of PFC included within the PSU, the PSU will release load if attached to a UPS that send an aproximation of a sine wave or step like sine wave when on battery, like Back-UPS from APC. If you want to use a UPS to secure your equipment with this PSU, you will need a UPS that output a pure sine wave when on battery, like the Smart UPS from APC. But those UPS are much more costly. |

OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ700FTY 700W Power Supply
Cons:None so far
Pros:Quiet, looks cool Comment:
This power supply is in my first build. Has plenty of connections and is working flawlessly. I was under the impression that I was getting a modular power supply but to tell the truth I've built this computer online about ten times so can't for sure say if I missed something or not. I have a Lian li case and have found that the cable length is just fine. I AM having trouble submitting this reveiw though... Telling me I don't have enough words????? |

OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ700FTY 700W Power Supply
Cons:Noisy fan, only supports two 8 pin PCI-E connectors, not modular?
Pros:Red LEDs (everything is blue these days), Price, OCZ warrenty, Looks badass in popular HAF case, not modular? Comment:
I won't lie, pretty much the only reason I got this thing (from another website actually about half a year ago) is because it looks badass in my coolermaster HAF case. Aside from that I read some pretty solid reviews about it's construction:http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/704The price is definitely right (especially on sale) for a 700w PSU.Haven't had any problems with it so far. My only complaint is that I tested all the fans in my case and it seems that the one in this PSU is making a low buzzing noise. OCZ offered to replace the fan when I submitted an RMA but I was too lazy (and needed my computer for work) to actually send it. The buzz is pretty low but it's something to consider for the noise Nazis (my new heatsink makes way more noise, and I can't hear my computer under the desk).Aside from that for those who want to rock 4 card crossfire (or SLI for you nvidia fanboys) you'll have to look elsewhere, as this thing only has two 8 pin PCI-E connectors. Not really an issue for me, as I'd have to win the lottery to even consider a second video card. Finally this PSU is not modular. I guess that cuts down a little bit on resistance, but personally I'm a fan of cutting down on CABLES, so if this thing didn't look cool and my case wasn't so huge I'd have gone with a modular PSU. Can't say that not being modular is definitely good or bad, it's a preference thing. All in all I have to say that it's a great PSU for the price point, and looks fancy for those superficial gaming types like myself. Throw in a coolermaster V8 and you might as well move to surrey and race your computer in a derby. This review was modfied by poster @ 11-05-09 05:54 PM |
On sale with a MIR this was a heckuva good price. Put it into a user's computer who upgraded to 5770 and might get another one for crossfire soon. Stable and has a nice single rail instead of the multiple rails some other OCZ PSUs have. Lots of connectors and no complaints there. The only drawbacks if you can call them that are the limit of only 2 PCI-E connectors which makes little sense for a 700W PSU with a solid single 12V rail, and the large red LED illuminated Fatal1ty branding on it which I dislike.
