OCZ Solid 3 SLD3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" MLC
Cons:Shipped with buggy firmware (2.06)
Pros:Good value once you upgrade the firmware Comment:
Experienced random crashes on Win7 at least once a day with this drive until I upgraded the firmware using the flasher on OCZ's website. Now the drive works flawlessly. |

OCZ Solid 3 SLD3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" MLC
Cons:not much point vs Sandforce Gen 2 deals if you don't have SATA3
Pros:package deal price (current weekly sale)value / performance Comment:
I tested one of these that a friend picked up today, and it outperformed my best Sandforce 2 PCMark HDD benchmark score that I had on file by 40% (Corsair F120 120G firmware 2.0). I only tested it using a SATA3 interface on an AMD-based ASUS motherboard. Testing was done with the latest 2.08 firmware, which I updated to from the stock 2.06 before testing. Crystal Diskmark scores weren't as impressive, but they are purely synthetic and PCMark is more of a real world apps simulation score. Under Crystal Diskmark, it matched its rated ~20k IOPS writes performance on 4k aligned random writes so that confirms that the drive was running in optimal "full spec" performance conditions. Hard to beat the value on the current two drive combo deal, and the 120GB product should be even faster. |

OCZ Solid 3 SLD3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" MLC
Cons:DO not see difference.
Pros:SPeed is stable. Comment:
I do not see any difference between this and my old OCZ Vertx II 50GB. The boot time of Win7 is the same. I saw a difference in bennchmark and that's all.If this is your first SSD you will say WOW.. |
great device, but with the prices dropping on the SSD, there are better choices out there. Great device for your primary OS drive.
