OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTX40G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
-Price (compared to HDDs)
Pros: -Price (for an SSD)-Performance Comment:
Sandforce SSDs are in a league of their own. Compared to all the other small SSDs, these things are incredibly fast. Barely slower than the 60GB/120GB versions. The capacity is small, but strap one of these into a modestly well performing rig, and nothing will slow it down. Perfect for making "Average Joe" email computers feel incredible.Right now the price (after MIR) is pretty good. It's definitely worth spending a bit extra and going Sandforce. Lesser SSDs don't feel nearly so snappy, making it harder to justify the cost increase over an HDD.Mine came with the latest firmware, so I just plunked it in, formatted, installed Windows, and applied a few tweaks. Done.I love these things. They're worth every penny. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTX40G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
capacity
Pros: Speed, easy to install Comment:
This drive is incredibly fast. I decided to upgrade my PC from a Seagate 7200.11 500GB, and the entire system has gotten an incredible boost from it. Boot times are cut in half, any apps on it boot instantly and windows is unbelievably responsive. This is an excellent drive to use as a bare minimum boot drive. My only regret is not getting the 120GB, which I will still probably do and then put this in a laptop. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTX40G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
Very small capacity
Pros: Incredible boot times and performance Comment:
Despite only 40GB of capacity, it still works as a bare minimum boot drive. The increase of performance coming from a regular hard drive was a big jump. |
I bought this basically as a scratch disk as I already have a 120GB Vertex for my OS. Now I can run background tasks requiring heavy disk activity (WCG) without bogging the machine down. Works perfectly! Wouldn't hesitate for a second to use it as as OS drive on a laptop, netbook or anything else not needing alot of space. If you haven't already joind the SSD revolution, don't wait another minute. After you have one, you never know how you lived without it...lol!
