OCZ Z-Drive R2 P84 1TB PCI-E8 SSD Solid State Drive
Cons:
Weak support and weaker documentation.
Pros: This puppy is Fast. Very, very fast. |
Tested in a Dell Server (R900) using SUSE Linux 10 SP3 and XFS filesystem. For once, we beat the published spec and got about 1100 to 1200 megabytes/sec on read. (This requires some XFS tweaking to achieve). Mixed read+write does about 600 megabytes/sec.But it is a big card -- a fully full length PCIe card. This will not fit into some machines. (Apparently newer R3 models are smaller). Our first unit broke and it took weeks for OCZ tech support to replace it (out of Toronto). This is a big negative for anyone wanting "enterprise" support for an "enterprise" card. There is no documentation. Plug and pray.Overall it is worth it, and the price over the last few months is slowly getting better.
