Got this as my first UPS. So far so good, works as advertised. Included software is pretty bad but Opti has a much simplier software that you can download that works much better. Does not mention that is comes with a cable so I bought the OPTI-UPS 220-02RB1-00 USB-RS232 (VS_C/ES_C) Communication Cable which is recommended only to find out it came with a serial cable so I didn't need the USB one. The USB cable didn't work either so I had to use the serial one with a USB-Serial adapter. Everything works great with this setup.

Comment:
For those who are not familiar with electricity, the output of this series is sine wave. It means it is giving clean and safe current for my equipement. The surge energy capacity is 1050J. Normally most UPS has about 540J surge capacity so I'm more protected against harmful spikes. Those two features are very helpful.

Comment:
With such reasonable price, this UPS works great and exceeds my expectation. When there is a power outage, the internal batteries would provide 4-12 mins backup time to shut down electronic devices properly. The internal battery is also replaceable. However, since such UPSes could only be purchase via Websites, it is difficult to see if it is really suitable for us the customers. When there is a need of RMA and repair, the shipping may cost a lot due to its weight. Although Opti-UPS's customer services would offer trade-up when they have determined the device is not worth of doing the RMA and they often suggest a newer model with better pricing, I personally would still want to do that in store so there is no need to do the shipping myself.

My boss told me to buy this one. So far it's running perfectly. Hope it will last longer than APC one I had before. It does manage to shut down everything in time and the unit itself lasts quite a while. I like it!
