OPTI-UPS RS650B 650VA 390W UPS - Retail
Cons:Seems to be under-rated. Trips overload circuit a lot
Pros:LCD display screen is nice and lets you know that everything is working within parameters. Comment:
I ordered this UPS to replace an aging APC unit with a weak battery. This unit is supposed to be 650VA-390 Watts and my old APC unit was only 390VA-250watts. Running the same dual core Athlon computer, this new UPS constantly alarms as Overloaded. Tech support for Opti-UPS states that this UPS will not handle switching loads (such as a computer).Currently this UPS has been re-assigned as back-up for my LCD TV and HD-PVR where it seems to be working just fine.I ordered a similarly sized Belkin UPS for my computer and it seems to be just fine also.It seems that Opti-UPS may be overly generous with there ratings for this series of there UPS units.I would not recommend this unit as a back-up for a computer, however it seems to be fine for other types of electrical equipment (TV, PVR etc).
