PRO WLS 5100 802.11 ABGN PCIE MINI CARD
Cons:none
Pros:Much more sensitive than Dell Wireless 1505 WLAN Mini-Card (Dell uses Broadcom BCM4328 chipset) Comment:
Unlike the Dell 1505, Intel WiFi Link 5100 connects to Linksys WRT160N routers without excessive struggles.Increase in sensitivity is very obvious, signal strength indicator (for the same AP) increases by at least one bar, and in some cases, an increase of two bars.I replaced the Dell OEM 1505 in an Inspiron 1420 (Windows 7) and an Inspiron 1720 (Windows Vista). A fantastic upgrade. |

Cons:none noted
Pros:Cheap, good performance Comment:
Took long as hell to get it shipped to me since NCIX had to get it from one of their suppliers. But it comes well packaged in an OEM box with a driver CD. |
I bought one of these to replace an Intel 3945ABG and it's working as expected. It doesn't seem to be on the same level as the 4965AGN or 5300 but I guess that's to be expected with only 2 antenna connections vs 3. For the price I think this is a much better deal and a cleaner solution vs disabling the onboard wireless and having a USB wifi antenna sticking out the side.
