PROCURVE 1810G-24 SWITCH U.S
Cons:
Only had coarse-thread screws for rack mounting, and my rack uses fine-thread. Also, no management serial port.
Pros: Easier to configure, worked perfectly out-of-box. |

PROCURVE 1810G-24 SWITCH U.S
Cons:
None.
Pros: Fan less, supports optional fiber Comment:
I got this to replace a Dlink Smart switch that didn't have dynamic port aggregation. Strange that they go from 8 ports to 24, but I guess it's better to have more ports than lessThe setup was pretty quick, one annoying quirk is a hidden save button - unless you explicitly go there to save your configuration, it will be lost if you relocate the unit. All in all, a great unit. |

PROCURVE 1810G-24 SWITCH U.S
Cons:Price
Pros:Easy installation, network monitoring, loop protection, green features Comment:
I love this switch. Mind you I upgraded from old school D-link unmanaged switch, but this has gone way beyond my expectations. Auto loop protection, easy troubleshooting, 10 minute installation, I can not say anything bad about this switch. May revise once I implement VPN or VLAN, but I doubt it. No faults, all strengths thus far. |
I've used a few different models of HP Procurve managed switches before, and like the previous ones the 1810-G was very easy to setup and configure. Although there is no serial port for management, the web interface works very well and will even dump the switch config in to a single text box so you can copy it and back it up (which is an absolute must if you're working with vlan setups, simple of complex). This switch is excellent value for the price, so you can definitely do worse.
