According to Atto, read speed hits its prime at 64KB, at around 21 MB/s. This just barely eeks the read speed over from "average" to "good".Write speed hits its prime at 16KB, at around 6.7MB/s, for a rating of "poor".This makes this drive suitable for an OS-install or diagnostic tools drive, where only the initial use is slow, but as a 8GB transfer medium it may be a bit painful.Due to $6.99 price at time of purchase, though, this drive gets four stars... 4.25 stars if that was possible.The 16GB Kingston I recently reviewed was the same price, and similar in performance (although even slower in write). Despite double the capacity, I would still choose this drive over it due to the insanely small size and the slightly faster write speed, but of course, the choice is yours.
