I think it's a design flaw that these 2.5in enclosures have.The connector broke after 4 months of use.These type of flat connector are easily stressed and will break over time.There are other enclosure with a different type of connector.Like the Silverstone Raven RVS02 enclosure.I would NOT recommend this product, not because of the bran but because of it very large flaw.The connector doesn't work, your enclosure because paperweight. |

Perfect for my external drive for mobile usage. I use it in the office for data transfer - it's big enough to handle the job and small enough to tuck in a pocket.Loving that it's USB 3.0. Some people complain that it's hard to swap out a drive - I didn't have a problem when I had to re-open the case, but I have fingernails, so that may have helped. |

This unit is very nice to look at. Regarding how easy it is to swap in another drive? It isn't at all. The plastic snaps built into the structure makes the need for the two screws more or less unnecessary. It is that tight. What I did was shaved down the tiny plastic latches on the side that clicks together with the bottom panel and use the two screws to hold it in place. It is now very easy to open the back once I remove the two screws. |

I bought this enclosure a bit more than 3 months ago for a 1TB 5400rpm Seagate HDD. As of yesterday it suddenly no longer worked. The enclosure's connector which didn't inspire much confidence about its reliability to begin with seems to be the key as toggling with it seems to make it work, but for a very short time after I let it sit on my desk. There are probably other more reliable enclosures at a similar price with a more pleasant design. |

Well, it works, and if you only put one drive in it ever it'll probably be ok. However with how it is build once its been snapped together once it's impossible to get apart without prying at it with a screwdriver or similar device and destroying the finish. Once you actually get it apart the force required warps the plastic permanently so it'll never stay together properly again and will keep half popping apart. To try and illustrate it the enclosure only has two screens on one side, the rest is just held together with plastic snaps, plastic snaps that are entirely too strong. |

Cons:-Made entirely of thin plastic for the cover, would prefer something that feels more durable-only part aluminum are the sides-It has a high gloss finish on both sides, a finger print magnet and can very easily scratch, no pouch included-tried to disassemble it, but I was not able to remove the cover, did not want to use excessive force because it will damage the delicate finish of the case
Pros:-Simple design, 1 port for usb and power-Easy to assemble (2 screws, 4 rubber feet)-has a thin foam insert on both sides of the case to hold the HD securely in place, HD doesn't move even if you shake it really hard-a blue led lights up to show power and connection-Good value only if you price match Comment:
Bought this product for a spare SSD I have lying around (OCZ Vertex 2 120gb). Wanted to take advantage of the speed and found this USB 3.0 enclosure for a good price after price match. Does the job but I can only give it a 3 star rating. I have not been able to remove the cover when I tried to take it apart. It's a really tight fit and I would have to pry it open and in the process damage the case. I have not tested out the speed of the file transfer yet, will add more about it once I try it out. I have many extra 2.5' hdds and i prefer to use Patriot over other brands as reliability is a major issue with some other brands i have tried. I would most definetltly recommend this to anyone looking for a 2.5' hdd case. Overall, a good purchase at under 20 bucks. |

Bought the first Patriot Gauntlet(I) when on sales for $14.99. Overall, I find that it is very easy to operate on when comes to "Safely Remove Hardware" while compared to some old USB external enclosures. Sometimes the older ones just may not response to such and leading me to think I may get some data corruption. I do believe this Patriot Gauntlet II will be as reputable as the orginal first one. |
I'm really liking this enclosure because for the sale price I paid it offers very good speeds and installing the hard drive was easy. The device looks great and offers adequate protection and is small enough to throw into my pocket.Perhaps some think the cable is this or that, my opinion is that it feels snug just like the other 4 external USB3 drives with the exact same cables hookup I have here.Also I like that blue LED isn't a huge honkin light that can land a Water Bomber!
