Patriot Supersonic Boost XT High Speed 32GB USB3.0 Flash Memory Drive Water & Shock Resistant
Cons:slow for its priceslow for a usb3.0 drivecap may loosen over time
Pros:unique lookssmall, non-intrusive activity led Comment:
a little disapointed with the sales staff lately. i specifically mentioned that i needed only 16GBs, a cap-less design with fast write speed to the sales staff who assisted me yet he said there was nothing faster than this they had in stock. so i bought it.turned out, this had a cap. and it's made out of soft rubber so the cap is relatively loose. i should've done my homework and examined my purchase closely at the store before walking out. just that i came to trust NCIX sales.i found out NCIX also had in stock, an ADATA (SKU:68042) that was 1/3 cheaper at the time (32GBs) and at almost 1/3 the price 16GBs, which was the size i initially wanted. AND...the ADATA is a faster drive. at least the BoostXT price was decent, on par with Amazon at the time, and i'm just going to settle for it, the extra storage will help in some ways down the road. :)ADATA Product page:http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=68042&vpn=AS102P-32G-RGY&manufacture=AData%20TechnologyReview that benched both the BoostXT and the ADATA:http://www.squidoo.com/best-usb-3-0-flash-driveunless you need the rugged look and the led, i'd say go with the ADATA. the soft rubber design of the BoostXT looks cool but its fat size obstructs the adjacent usb port on my MacBook Pro. and it is entirely soft rubber so you can actually squeeze the entire casing like a rubber ball. doesn't make you feel confident about its "ruggedness". the black casing also collects a lot of dust and lint.don't confuse this with the RageXT series, which has quad channel NAND (RAIDed memory chips) for very high throughput. if you can, wait for the USB3 version of the RageXT to come down in price. it's got the cap-less, slide design and the performance should smoke others in its price range.happy hunting, all!
