Patriot Xporter XT Boost 32GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable)
Comment:
I bought my key on the 07/31/2008 ... I've dropped it, knocked it, used it as a key chain, it's right now hooked to a chain linked around my neck, i plug it in at 07h45 am at work, work off it all day, and usually pull it off, (no shutdown) at 17h00.. it's got 24.7 gb on it right, on fat32 mind you.. and the darn thing is still going on strong.. So far all of the problems i've heard of and seen, are end user problems.. not knowing how to get the key ready, formatted, and then loaded.. this key is probably formatted for PC no mac, so a format is for certain required.. sorry, dont know mac.. anyways, as far as i can see, the product is A1 .. i would suggest it to anyone.

First off I have a Lexar 512mb, Data Traveler 1gb and a Data Traveler 2gb flash drives. I purchase XT Xporter 8gb since the read and write speeds seemed to be unreal. Well once I got worked great much quicker by far than the Data Traveler models and a little quicker than the Lexar. My only problem, it lasted only two weeks then ''USB Device Not Recognized'' so no longer can I use and/or access this drive...RMA at this price? I think not, I

I bought this item last year and loved the room on it. It died this last November creating a huge amount of havoc for me. I understand these things die all the time, but this is the first one that has ever died on me and the fact that I spend this much money and had it such a short time really ticked me off....plus it was extremely stressful as I use it in my job and wasn't the best about backing up my stuff. I have an external hard drive now, as I truly need the GB. Hope I can depend on it more. Kept misplacing the cap too. They could do a better job with that. I wouldn't get another one.

In response to arbirter91's review. You have to format such a drive in NTFS to full advantage of the drive's size.

As far as other reviewer claiming drive only reaches 8.8 GB and then saying it is full, it is completely untrue. I personally have loaded it to 25.4 GB without any problems. Excellent speed and reliability on this puppy.

Cons:Chunky - keep the included extension cable handyRubber cover picks up lint better than any vacuum cleaner

Pros:Capacity, man, what else matters?
Comment:
Good value for capacity, especially with rebate. Works ok, not the fastest, not the slowest. It will have a hard time fitting into many usb jacks, you'll need the extension cable. It holds a ton of stuff!

I recieved this product as a gift. It has to be the biggest joke I have ever seen in my entire life. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!! This is not a 32gb flash drive I can only write 8.8gb to it. I have tried Windows Vista, XP, 2000, 98SE, 2 Linux Distros Ubuntu and Puppy, even went as far as trying my friends mac book they all get to 8.8 and say the drive is full. This product would be a 20/10 if it was 32gb write speeds are amazing until the cap is reached. Once again I recommend not buying this item.

Patriot Xporter XT Boost 32GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable)
Cons:In the paper, it competes with SSD. In the reality, it doesn't.

Pros:large storage, water proof, easy to wash, fast, looks cool and feels cool, too, while working.
Comment:
IDM is my tool for downloading, but now it just doesn't support drive cache well -- it writes on the disk as soon as the data coming in. To protect my SSD in the laptop, I decided to find an external drive for the cache. After setup and compared with my previous Ocz Atv 4G drive. I have to say this deal is worth the price. Simply speaking, Atv is slower than Xporter. ATV is not suitable for the cache. But Xporter takes a bit time to start on every job, like joining the files or hashing. Also I transfer files from the USB drive to ordinary hard disk, which may restrict Xporter's performance. This one is the best u can get at this price in Van. For the easy storage, it is invincible. For the busy reading and writing jobs, It loses to SSDs, but the performance lag is far too smaller than the price gap.

I have been using the 32GB Patriot XT for about 8 months now. I have dropped this darn thing 3 times, from my desk, top of the server rack, and from my trouser pocket. The drive is still working. I am very happy with the performance and recommend this drive to anyone that is looking for a reliable USB drive.

Patriot Xporter XT Boost 32GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable)
Cons:Lid can sometimes get knocked off

Pros:Awesome capacity. I've dropped this and it can be dropped from high up as it's covered in a thick rubber material
Comment:
I have had no problems whatsoever with this unit. I bought a USB compatible deck for my truck, and my entire music collection (around 18,000 tracks) fits on this thing with 20GB to spare. It formats to around 29.8GB. It's super nice to have when you want to grab music or movies off a friend. It's like having a portable hard drive without all the bulk and need for extra power; it just fits in your pocket. Only thing about it is like another reviewer said, the lid is prone to falling off the end of it when the USB end is in use.

I own both the 16gb and the 32 gb flash drives from Patriot and they both have work flawlessly for many months now. I don't carry them all over the place mind you. They go from my PCs to my Playstation and back mainly. Both have never failed. I did however get denied the rebate because Patriot said I didn't buy it during the rebate period (but I most certainly did) Products are great though. Ontario, Canada

I gotta say it's one of the faster USB Flash cards I have. It's got a nice rubberized cover with the product logo and it comes with a REAL CHEAP lavaliere which is basically a piece of string with a clip on the end.

Cons:takes up a lot of space because of the rubber cover.

Pros:Fast, durable, cap stays on
Comment:
Great durability and very fast transfer rates. My only concern is that I bent the usb plug in part because I dropped my laptop with the USB plugged in (I know, im stupid). I don't know if any of teh otehr more durable flash drives could prevent this but the Xporter still works fine.

Seriously, you guys wear these around your neck? Is this like Geek jewelry now or something, I'm curious guys? I think I know what would be fire, pimpin out your USB flash drive with some bling biatch! LOL I'm just kiding everyone, LOL! But all joking aside I think its a great drive, fast enough for me, I mean seriously what are we, special agents and we have to hack into the computer and get the files out as fast as possible so we don't get caught???? uhmm, I can wait a little longer for a piece that just works and is reliable, LOL! And for the price, best I found. You'll be happy with it if you really need to carry 30 gigs with you all the time. Now I want that 64GB drive, still to much though. Go buy a boat load quick tiger direct, with the market the way it is.... Peace out

This is a great little USB flash drive. Decent transfer speeds, huge capacity and a great value for the price. The only problem is that the USB cap could easily fall off, especially once it is worn out over a couple of months.

I have to agree that this is the best flash drive I have ever purchased - and believe me I have been through quite a lot - I've learned to stay away from drives that don't tell you their speed or drives that simply say ''usb 2.0 speed.'' This drive is very fast and is the best I have seen. Get this one!

This unit is the best I've seen. High capacity, compact and fast for both read and write. I've had other high-capacity units that were either too large or quite slow, particularly for writing but this one is very fast. I personally found the rubber outer coating/lining makes the unit a bit 'thick' for my taste, but I peeled it away and extracted the core device and it is nice and slim.

This was the best Flash Drive I have ever bought and for just $100 bucks you can't beat the fact that it can hold 29.8 GB. I have looked forever for a big flash drive to handle the amount of paper work I have to deal with everyday and the cheapest/biggest I found was a 12 GB for $160. So if you asked me I would get it before they increase the price again. It used to be $169.99 but I feel that it reads fast and it writes fast considering the fact that you have a 32 GB flash drive. You just can't please everybody. So if you have the money it is well worth it.

Comment:
The other reviews here were most important in influencing my decision to try this Flash Drive. The reviewers were all correct. Also, I used the free open source software at http://www.truecrypt.org/ to encrypt areas of this drive for loss/theft. You essentially create a separate drive partition on the Flash Drive using TrueCrypt to create a second secure drive designation that requires login. i.e. you leave 10gb open, put EXECUTABLE TrueCrypt software there that DOES NOT require an install, then partition/format the remainder using TrueCrypt, copy your data onto the secure drive. Thank you to Tiger Direct and Patriot for this drive, and more importantly for the reviewers taking the time to post their experience with this flash drive. Okay, so you want a negative to know I don't work for the companies? I like the flash drive color but the lanyard it came with has a white string? I would rather have a black one that looks better with the drive and not get dirty.

This USB is fast when reading from it. However, it is very slow when writing to it. That's why its package boasts its super fast reading but mentions nothing about its writing speed. It had to be returned.

Reading one large file sustained a speed of 33MB/s.I also like the shock / water resistant case. I'd be pretty comfortable dropping this 10' to concrete. I'm not so sure about full immersion in water, but with the cap on, I wouldn't worry about it getting rained or spilled on.Overall its an excellent device, far more convenient than burning DVDs etc to move larger files around.
