Comment:
Incredibly fast. I don't know what folks don't realize of the term "up to" 25 mb/sec, and what that means. Huge files will move more quickly and smaller files will not.I transferred many big files. From 300-500MB program files to a 4GB service pack ISO and the speed was 22 MB/sec.Look pretty close to "up to" 25 MB /sec to me.I even transferred 6 GB of digital pic which were in numerous folders with files (pics) that had been in the two-four MB range and this transfer was still on the order of 16 MB/sec for all these little files. Actually outstanding speedThe original drive I transferred these files to took 45 minutes to write that 6GB.I even ran this drive on 3 benches beneath (ATOT HD Tach and Crystaldisk and it just gave the exact same numbers when I ran my own transfer tests. -Very rapidly (averages about 22MB/s on huge file transfers)-Slider model-No cap to shed-Activity light, but not distracting-Holds loads of data-Slider stays in location:A lot of of these sliding drives will slip back into the case when you insert them into a USB slot. Not the case with this 1. The USB connector is attached to the principal piece of the drive. It's the cover that in fact does the sliding, not the connector. Wise. none If you like a very bright activity light on your USB drive, you won't get it with this drive. It's just a small red light inside the lanyard hole at the back of the drive. Difficult to see, unless you're looking at it.I personally like that, so I'm not distracted when it's plugged into my PS3. |

none NOTE:The efficiency optimization leaves you with a file format that WILL NOT permit transfers of files over 4gb. This renders my big capacity drive useless for it's intended purpose (moving large files.) Patriot... you Actually let me down here. Manufacturer Response:Dear Luke9583,Please be conscious that the Efficiency Format Tool will optimize the drive and set it in the default FAT format. You will require to convert the file format to NTFS in order to transfer files larger than 4GB.Thank You for deciding on Patriot Memory!Regards,Patriot Memory Support |

Transferred a 1GB file to it and it took about 30 seconds. My old flash drive would probably take 2 minutes to do that.It looks great and has a retractable cap. Not like other flash drives where you can loose the cap.Overall I recommended this flash drive! |

This USB flash drive has a nice stylish design, though it is a bit thick, that doesn't really bother me. The casing slides up over the connector to eliminate the need for a cap. Overall a good quality USB drive. |

it's great USB drive, faster than many others, but the writing speed never over 20mb/s, for big file transfer, around 15mb/s. The reading speed is OK about 35mb/s, writing not 25MB/S as declared. |

Comment:
This item is fantastic. I am enormous on flash drives and I am often looking for the quicker ones. When I saw the ad on the egg I decided to get it. With some tests on my rig I got 30MB/s Read and 28MB/s Write which is excellent. I am operating Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with an older Intel Q6600. Ive been making use of this drive as my main transfer flash drive for video and photos and it is best. I have no problems at all with this item. I dont know why other people today are saying the speeds are not on par with the advertised specs. But for me it is quite fast. Here are my specs ASUS P5e X38 mobo, Intel Q6600 ʂ.4GHz, 4GB DDR2 Ram, 320GB 7200rpm WD Drive, 9800gtx 512mb. My program is no exactly where near new. Its two years old but still rapidly for what I do on it. |

Cons:N/A
Pros:good price when on sale, large memory capacity, retractable cap, fast transferring speed Comment:
Bought this USB drive on sale for school work. It worked quite well so far, have been transferring large amounts of data on it. The retractable cap is quite handy, prevents you from losing the lid. Data transfer is fairly fast, although i didn't really verify the speed of transfer claimed by the manufacturer. |

Comment:
Nice searching. Retractable body. Light and durable. Quick. No Lanyard? So because most measurements are completed by Mb/s (megabits/seconds), it is tough to say really how rapidly a flash drive is. Megabits are an 8th of a megabyte. Acquiring anywhere near 20 or above is a superior speed...in particular for something going through USB. USB2. is only rates at 480 megabits/second. So...performing the math, subtracting for friction, latency and pc motherboard...a range of near 20 - 30 is quite acceptable. Now, patriot tested on an X58 motherboard at 40MB. x58 is performance. You WILL get the fastest speed on an X58. I attempted my X58 with my i7 and raptor drive...got advertised---actually, got ABOVE advertised. A laptop will not hold an x58 ...so yes, you will get slow then advertised speeds. My laptop did best lower then advertised..once more..no x58 motherboard. This little sucker is a fast USB flash drive. Worth the cash. USB flash drivers will often be relative..so you have to think about them relative to the motherboard or program they are on. |

Comment:
a perfect flash drive, i ran the optimization tool that patriot delivers on their web page, i and i even surpassed the advertised read/write speed! a best flash drive, and incredible ammount of space i wish they would essentially have 16GB on here, i can't complain with missing a GB, but it wouldn't hurt to give a small far more then a little much less of what they're really advertising.the cost, also isn't my preferred this did replace my four 2GB flash drives, it was finding tiring to go through and look at each one to discover the precise factor i was looking for in the course of class, or when i'm fixing someones laptop or computer. and when i purchased those 5 years ago, i got them on sale for โ a piece. |

Comment:
It is modest and has slide out function, plug and play whilst looking amazing. This thing cannot fit anything above 10GB I assume it is a fake 16GB memory with 2x 8GB inside, but that's just my opinion. the speed is average, and I've use that efficiency thingy, it doesn't support a lot either. Even though also the rubber from the original xporter became plastic plate. I ought to have went with one thing else, Patroit has a nice name for flash drives, this product just ruined it. I hope they can come up with some thing that can support every person that isn't meeting the spec of the item. Manufacturer Response:Hello DoubleX,Thank You for your beneficial feedback. Our 16GB Rage drive is able to support 10GB files. Please keep in thoughts for files larger than 4GB you will will need to transfer the file sort to NTFS in order to do so. All of our USB Flash drives (and most as business-standard) come formatted as FAT. For any further technical questions, please contact support@patriotmem.com.Type Regards,Patriot Memory Support |

Patriot Xporter XT Rage 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive
Comment:
rapid, smaller, no cap to lose I am not acquiring the big boost in write speed promised with this drive. Benchmarking under Mac OS X, Windows 7 and real world use under Ubuntu ten.04 show quite nice read speeds (upper 20's) but write speeds maxing out about 17. No activity light (as in the Boost drives). No lanyard (how inexpensive can you get, specifically with a drive this tiny). I own two Patriot Xporter XT Boost drives Ɣ & 8G) and this drive shows only a minimal improve in performance. The Boost drives have proven to be trustworthy and sturdy, my preferred flash drives of several I have owned. This drive does not deliver what it promises (although it does perform well) and cuts corners as far as convenience. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,Please fully grasp that the overall speeds of the drive should be up to 25MB/s write and 27MB/s read. The maximum speeds obtainable is host dependent. Cons:None
Pros:-Faster than my previous 4gb sandisk drive. -No protective cap to place ?somewhere? while in use (body of the unit slides forward to cover USB plug)-The light on the unit is more subtle than other drives I've used (less distracting if using it with media streaming device) Comment:
In the unboxing video for this product, Linus says that it's 'a little bulky' compared to other USB drives. It is bigger, but not big enough for it to be an issue for day to day use. I'm gonna be buying a few of these as Christmas gifts - overall great USB drive and great value. |

Cons:-size is big
Pros:+feels sturdy+good performance+I received my rebate check Comment:
Good drive. I use it to transfer movies b/w computers or documents. I was initially gonna by the OCZ rally 2 but after hearing speed decreases compared to earlier shipments I bought this instead. I think it had to do with changing dual channel or maybe the nanometers for memory chips on the OCZ model. OCZ even pulled the same thing for their vertex SSDs. |

Cons:none really
Pros:FastPretty cheap when on sale Comment:
I bought this USB to do unattended Windows 7 installs faster than the CD/DVD drives would do.Its definately faster than comparable USB drives with write speeds in the 20-25 MBps range. I haven't actually measured the read speeds with it but it "feels" faster than cheaper Kingston drives. The retractable sheath is interesting. I cant comment on its durability but I like not having to lose or break those cheap caps.Works as advertised. |

Patriot Xporter XT Rage 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive
Cons:-overall size of the flash drive is a bit wide
Pros:-fast-suitable price for a solid flash drive Comment:
It is fast compared to other 16gb flash drives. Transferring a 1gb movie, it went at about 20mb/s. Depending on the size and amount of files, the drive will go up to 25mb/s. The size of the flash drive might be a bit of a problem if you have crowded usb ports. Not a big fan of retractable cap because it is not really a cap. |

Comment:
Strider, I'm very glad you had been either lucky sufficient to get a drive that performs up to rated speeds, own the quite specific method that Patriot rated this drive on, or are willing to overlook far lower than advertised performance. Strider, it wasn't actually necessary for you to call into question other posters "Tech Information". Being condescending and insulting to folks isn't much of a way to get people to trust your review. You don't know me and have no location to judge my experience. I for one have been in IT more than 15 years, hold many certifications, and have powerful information of how NAND flash works. You're correct, performance can vary from program to system, but in my opinion consistently performing 34% or additional below advertised write speeds on varying systems is unacceptable. I could forgive 10-20%, but 38-45%? COME ON! If it was just me it may well be a fluke, but there are Several men and women reporting this low performance both here and on Patriot's forum. 15-17MB/Sec writes are solid numbers for a MLC flash drive, but not one that is advertised to write up to 27MB\Sec according to the Patriot website. The only "disturbing trend" here is yet another organization displaying questionable advertising and marketing practices. Would you be pleased if you bought a car rated to get 50mpg, but then turned out to only get 27.5mpg no matter how cautiously you drove it? Then the corporation disclosed that those numbers were achieved on a Dyno with the engine out of the vehicle? I positive wouldn't and neither would most people today. You say the manufacturers responses are basically stating facts and they might be. But so am I as nicely as other reviewers who posted actual world benchmark numbers. The numbers are black and white and don't lie. We're just basically trying to notify prospective buyers that performance on their systems is likely not going to be anywhere near the performance claimed by Patriot which was achieved on a quite certain program and that consequently, they may possibly not be pleased. If patriot wanted to make happy shoppers they would have rated this drive at more conservative and realistic numbers that most folks can obtain on their systems. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Consumer,Thank You for deciding upon Patriot Memory! We value your feedback and any concerns you have with your drive. The testing methodology used in obtaining the advertised speeds are on an X58 platform working with HDbench at 40MB. Furthermore we have a Performance Format Optimization Tool you can use to increase performance of your drive. You can come across the tool at our web page, patriotmem.com under the support and downloads section, pick "PEF16GRUSB." Based on testing here, we've seen that the increase is typically 3-4MB/s. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with E-mail: support@patriotmem.com.Sincere Regards,Patriot Memory Support |
Absolutely nothing actually outstanding The construction is inexpensive. The drive no longer 'clicks' with it's cover on or off. It just slides around aimlessly. InexpensiveThe write speeds are absolutely nothing like they are advertized. Regardless of Patriot claiming their 'optimization' on their internet site... this is just a case of tricky marketing. "Up to 25mb/sec" Yes... you may possibly see up to that. But I have not. I see aboud 12mb/sec.So they meet their claim. But they have lost a client right here. I have liked Patriot in the past, but this sneeky stuff does not cut it. Patriot need to be ashamed of itself. I actually do want my dollars back. I have a number of other 16gb drives that write significantly faster. ྐྵ% faster) I took a opportunity. It was not worth it. Read the critiques. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client, Please be conscious that performance can differ from platform to platform. The overall speeds of the drives need to be up to 25MB/s write and 27MB/s read. These benchmarks tested we use x58. Benchmark utilized to get these numbers were HDBench at 40MB. If you have any technical concerns, please don't hesitate to make contact with assistance@patriotmem.com for help. Thank You for deciding on Patriot Memory! Type Regards, Patriot Memory Assistance
