Not what I expected

Copying DVD's (only 7 so far) I've had 3 that failed to copy. Can only hope for better success on others, disappointing. |

Price is not bad
Comment:
Cheaper than most other brands and the printing on the label side is easier to read than some of the colored ones. No problems on the data side but there have been a couple failures on the label side. Appeared to print but when taken out of the burner there was nothing on the label. About a 2 percent failure rate. |

better than LG lightscribe
Comment:
The data side burns fine with no problems. The lightscribe label side works better with the Phillips than with LG, about the same as Verbatim lightscribe. With the LG the writer often had difficulty reading the hologram marks near the spindle and it was a hassle getting it to write (usually took a few tries before it recognized it as lightscribe). The Phillips disks have the same problem as all the lightscribe disks. I have to burn the label twice to get it dark enough and improve the contrast. That ends up being about an hour to make a decent label. This brand did no better or worse than the others I've tried. Lightscribe is a neat idea but they really should improve the darkness/contrast. |

Lightscribe works everytime
Comment:
I've had no issues with this media. It works as advertised. The contrast isn't the best but you can clearly see the label information. It's a cool factor that I like. I've used a Sharpie up to this point so this gives you the option of making up a professional looking label without a sticky label or marker. Thanks Phillips for making a product that meets the advertised specs. |

Philips 25-Pack Lightscribe DVD-R, 4.7GB, 16X
Comment:
Overall good media. Had a couple errors with lightscribe labeling 2 out of 25. More issues with Dual Layer DVD recording above2X Speed(phillips brand). Sticking with single layer until BlueRay comes down in price. |

I just burned through 150 of these discs and they work great. No duds and they are very compatible even with the older DVD players. I love these discs. |

Philips 25-Pack Lightscribe DVD-R, 4.7GB, 16X
Comment:
If you own a Lite-On LightScribe DVD burner, DO NOT buy Philips LightScribe DVD blanks! I bought 50 of them, and am stuck with duds. Every other brand of LightScribe DVDs work perfectly with the Lite-On drive, creating very nice inscribed labels (Verbatim is the best, so far) But, the Philips LightScribe DVDs are total duds, ALL 50 of them - and Philips won't do anything about it - won't exchange them or refund my money. So, that's the last Philips media I ever buy, and I suggest everyone else do the same. These discs ain't cheap - so why take the chance - buy any other brand and you won't be stuck with duds like I am. |

The Phillips Lightscribe DVD's are of excellent quality. They work well, the only thing I would ask Phillips to do since they now have colored disks is add a white to their line. Grayscale photos look much better on white than on green, blue, or gold. |

Comment:
These are great blank DVD media even if they weren't Lightscribe (which is why I tried them). Haven't had a coaster and the coated side has worked like a charm. I'm on my second pack and will get more. Wish they were a little cheaper, but what they heck. Highly recommended! |
This my first experience with lightscribe and I'm pleased with the results - allowing that it is not equal to an intricate color image. But it is a nice professional alternative to paper labels and a welcome option. Since I have not created any coasters as yet, I have to assume this brand is as good as any.
